Peter King ranks the Panthers #18

he raises some Good questions about the Panthers, I think he's putting to much into that one game for Jake and his season stats considering how much we run the ball which is a lot more then other teams, the Defense is the biggest question mark for me about the team which I am still very curious to see what happens there.

But with that said are you going to tell me that the Jets, Texans, Vikings, Miami, Chicago, Colts, Ravens, Atlanta and Dallas have less or smaller Questions marks then the Panthers? no.

Like Chicago being 4th in his Power Rankings, they don't even make the Playoffs last year, and have serious questions on the offense even with Cutler, they're WR's and RB's and most of they're O-line for that matter would not start for the Panthers. they're defense is good but not the Juggernaut that they used to be, Now are you going to tell me they are going to be better then the Panthers?

Now I'm not so sure what they're SoS is compared to ours but, that's not what this list is about, especially considering that this is a pre-season list.

Points allowed, last seven games: 45, 31, 23, 10, 34, 31, 33. So pardon me if I'm not on the Panthers bandwagon just yet.

Why should he put us any higher?

Just because you have a run game doesn't mean you are a potent offense, teams will be selling out to stop the run the entire year just because no one thinks Jake Delhomme can consistently make the right throw. He really didn't do it that well over the regular season and we all know what he did in the playoffs.

A defense that can't stop teams from scoring and a QB who is questionable, I'd put them in the lower half too.

he makes some solid points. We didn't play good at all down the stretch so 18 is about right.

the giants defense crumbled and that didnt stop him from ranking them 2! king ranks his teams based on how well known their quarterback is then on down the line by size of market, unless there's an exception that would be egregious to ignore.

also slurp slurp slurp tom brady

what's not mentioned is over that same stretch over the last 9 games of the season we scored more points then anyone else in the NFL, but hey who likes stats that kill arguments, if the Panthers Defense can return to the power house of old we can be great this season, but it all depends on that.

Why should anybody care what Peter King has to say anyway? Because everybody wants their team to be publicly touted as the best team around. Doesn't matter whether it's true or not, they just want it said aloud...

Welcome to the human world...
