Should we run the ball more this year?

we will be running more...but mainly because we'll be running more plays altogether just because we'll see more sustained drives.

i expect pretty close to about the same run:pass ratio as last year....which should make us more "respectable" in the all important league pass attempts ranking, except that we'll still be ranked in the 20's because although we'll be passing more (just like we'll be running more) every game, cam will be more efficient thus cutting down the pass attempts keeping us from being ranked better in pass attempts (damn having an efficient QB and an effective and balanced offensive scheme holding this team back in pass attempts).

So what do you suggest to get those pesky attempts back in line with the rest of the league? I say fug it. Let the rest of the league worry about what we are doing. Which they already are.

If we are running the O effectively I expect to get what 10-15 more plays a game? That is almost two extra TD drives a game. Giving us close to 30 points a game. If our Defense is any where near as effective as they were against Miami, we should scare our way to the playoffs.

I am not going out and saying we are there yet. We are just learning how to win. But from what I remember, a win is a win. Preseason wins, for a young team, can help that confidence level. They played well and with a purpose last game. If they can continue that trend. We should be OK. Or even better.

Alright, I am done, for now. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I expect the ratio to remain the same.

Offense simply needs to find a way not to disappear coming out at halftime.

You could line Newton up in the spread option every down and the NFL can't stop us....we can only stop ourselves. We have the talent to be a nightmare for others.

To me it gives us a better chance to mask our defensive deficiencies if we can burn time off the clock running as much as the defense will allow

Meh. In this this league if you have a bad D....you need to score, score, and score some more.

We can't run the ball much more....We were third in the league last season. The screen game is tricky business, a very effective tool but Cam struggles with the screen pass.

Deangelo didn't start off hot, Cam was throwing often early in the season, and a decent amount of Cam's rushing yards came from scrambles.. I think more ground and pound isn't out of the question, and at 5+ yards a carry, I'm not so sure we are sacrificing much..

If we switch to ground and pound....we won't be as efficient. We were a great rushing team in 2011. Not a ground and pound offense.

I still don't get why people want to fix what isn't broken. Cam will get better as well.

perhaps ground and pound is too ancient of a term to use here... As Hurney said it sets the tone, you don't have to implement a traditional Power-O philosophy as much as if the D is putting 7 in the box I fully expect to see more running than passing in those situations..

Not because Cam can't throw, instead it wears down a defense which could have closed out a few games last year... By the 4th quarter we can lean on that running game and burn off the clock..

I have no issue running and especially running from spread options looks....

Ground and pound implies traditional power run formations....and getting away from that + Cam gave us one of the best attacks we have seen in a single season. So yeah, that wording may make me think one thing and you be meaning another.
