My guess is it serves two purposes:

1) Assuming Kalil sits for a game or two due to some soft tissue owwie, we need someone to take the reps, and...

2) Rather than just sign another young guy without a clue, they went the veteran route to try to motivate better play by Byers.

But who knows. Maybe he's just Ron's best bud and they want to party in Manhattan next week when we visit the Jets.

I doubt this is an omen in any way. Sad to see Ness go tho...he had good size & was doing really well.

If you watch MMA at all, you can tell that once a dominate fighter gets knocked out cold that they can never take a hit the same way they once did. Those, of course, are concussions & sadly NFL players & teams have to account for this. I wish him the best of luck.
