Time to buy a new truck

I'm getting ready to head out and test drive a new Suburban right now. One that I have been watching on the internet for a couple of months. It has a couple of options I want that are not standard and the price is decent. I know what I am willing to pay and it is way below their price so I'm 99% sure they will not accept my 1st offer but I'm just laying the groundwork right now. I know the salesman is motivated so hopefully after several back and forth phone calls and emails with lots of haggling, I'll get it. If not, no big loss. Wish me luck.

:lol: So, even though I printed out & handed them the entire advertisement for the vehicle from their web page which included the price in big bold letters with no, zero, nada asteriks or fine print they can not sell it to me at that price since I am not military or civil service (and they admitted they should have printed that out). Plus the vehicle has 2,000 miles on it which is a bit much for a 2012 sitting on the lot & the salesman could not give me a history about it being a program car, rental car or being used personally by management. But what they did do was go back up to the original MSRP and then spend 5 minutes talking to me about 3 separate Chevy and dealer rebates that bring the price back down to somewhere in between the two prices. Then spend another 5 minutes talking about their #1 ranked service, the free tank of gas, the warranty, etc, etc.

Yeah, I left. They have my number and my email and that truck has been on their lot since April or earlier. I'll let them come to me and we can start over. If they don't, Eh, I'll wait for something better.

1) Why get a gas guzzler suburban ? (wait you have lots of kids right ?)

2) I bet you get that truck at your price or less with fuel costs going up again.

Yeah, lots of kids and we are still fostering from time to time.

Still laughing about the whole thing. They were really trying to push me into financing it with them at 7.25% even though I told them I would just get the money from my home equity line at half that rate plus a tax deduction. You would think mentioning that once would be enough to deter them but he and his manager (both very young) seemed to think that they could convince a 44 year old businesman in a suit that their idea was still a good one. I had zero attitude the whole process and was very personable and told them up front what I wanted and that in no way shape or form was I going to pay over a certain threshold (including the taxes & tags) or borrow the money from them. They had other ideas.

Holy poop... 7.25%??? These days? I would have left immediately.

We bought my wife a mom-mobile back in june and got a 2.99% rate at the dealer. Turned around and refinanced with our bank 2 weeks later for a 1.99% rate. If we'd pushed a little harder, I'm sure we could've gotten a 0.99% rate.

Yep I got a 2.4% rate from BB&T when I bought my Nissan Titan last year. Man I love that fuggin truck.

LOL, those guys are relentless. I was looking at buying an Audi at the dealership a while back and they put the full court press on getting me to lease a car. They completely turned me off and I bought a used one.
