Dolphins scouting report

I have NFL preseason rewind so I was scouting the Dolphins first team today on Offense and Defense.

So a little info on the Dolphins before we start.

OC

Mike Sherman

DC

Kevin Coyle

Offense

West Coast

Defense

4-3

Things on Offense.

Matt Moore started a QB for this game with a already Banged up David Garrard.

This WCO is high tempo and used No huddle most of the time the starting line was in.

The offense uses mostly a single back set with 3 and 4 WRs.

Moore's favorte target was TE Fasano who was there best Receiver also.

Dolphins WRs are a mess with no true WR1 with C. Johnson being released.

There offensive line is avg with a Rookie starting at RT. He looks and plays like a rookie as well and was beat by the Buc's on more than one occasion.

They seemed to use more of there playbook in this first game than one would have expected and Moore was calling out audibles on most plays.

On to defense

They are now a 4-3 defense.

There defensive line is very good and has two good DTs.

There Dline generated a good push and had pressure.

They blitzed on many occasions and like the offense seemed to use a bit more of there play book then most teams(def more than we did).

There DBs are there weak spot though. There best DB is Richard Marshall. Yes the one we all know and no he has not got much better. Good run defender and avg pass defender.

The rests of there DBs besides Marshall are BAD, and thats all I can say about them.

WIth closing I would have like to see a little more of there starting offense but the buc's where shutting them down quite well and nether pass nor run was working.

All good except Richard Marshall is our 3rd best DB. Sean Smith and Vontae Davis are both much better. However, Vontae has been lazy and out of shape, so they started Marshall above him.

Yeah I think Philbin has a problem with Vontae being out of shape and whatever. He has said he wants Vontae to be better. As a new coach, Philbin is only trying to make an example to the team. I gurantee on week 1 of the Regular season, he's not stupid enough to start Marshall over Vontae or Smith.

Remember these were one of the better top CB duos not long ago. They both are not scare to come hit.

Well we could've had a real 6 ft CB in Smith but Foxy was too bright to draft Martin a safety and try converting him into a CB. Didn't work.

I watched it too. A couple things stood out to me:

1) Moore did not look good. It may be partly the receivers but I don't think so because Tanneyhill looked much better

2) Tanneyhill looked good (very accurate) but he tends to throw a lot of floaters. It's kind of the opposite of Cam. Cam often should take something off his passes to make the receiver's life a little easier. Tanneyhill appears to need to put more on them, or he is going to either get his receivers killed or he is going to suffer a lot of picks.

For our visiting Miami fan, is the issue with Tanneyhill arm strength or is he still just learning how much heat to put on the ball?
