Why beat this dead horse? Well because several others are and I am trying to understand why they are up in arms over it.

*I just want to point out that Hurney has never committed more than 6 million a year to an outside free agent(and he's only given up that much once), well before Deangelo and Stewart signed their contracts.

Honestly man, Kearse and Edwards should be the starters at DT.

At CB, Captain shouldn't be a starter obviously and if Norman, Hogan, or Butler could step in, that would make a significant difference in our pass defense.

LB corps is probably the best in the league if they can stay healthy. Sure, they could've brought in some competition at CB and DT, but there are capable guys on the roster. Safety should be somewhat better with Nakamura in there, but Godfrey still hasn't proven to be a consistent performer, so we'll see there.

I like what we have, I just think it comes down to playing the right guys.

I 100% agree and have stated numerous times that we should've went after Samuel. Pairing him with Gamble would've been huge for us. Getting him for a 7th rounder would've been even better, but as you pointed out.....this is a mute point.

I disagree with the D not being a priority, I think RR believes he can make the D better with his background while maintaining a high flying O. We drafted a LB 9th overall and then traded up to land a DE.

If the defense is opportunistic enough, I don't care about points scored and yards really. If they can create turnovers I will happy.

After Stewart's deal is factored into this years cap the team will not have 8 million in space. It's probably done to something around 2-3 million now.

We don't give big money to outsiders, we take care of our own and we supplement with cheap FA's. That is the way we do things here and I am thankful for that.

Just off the top of my head, I don't remember any... Almost all of the recent championship teams had turnover-creating defenses that weren't necessarily top ranked.

Look at all the great defenses that fell short because the defense was better than the offense (Ravens, Jets, etc.).

As I am i Asia and have to download games, the version that first came out was a Texans broadcast.

And as annoying as it was, one comment kept coming from the commentator.

Preseason this or that aside i felt his comment was spot on.

In referring to the openness of Texan receivers in our secondary, and in a few places the running game, I kept hearing " like smoke through a keyhole"

I wont make any statements about FA's or current players, but I will say that even with the first team defense our keyhole was almost as large as the entire door..and I hope this is something that gets corrected damn quick.
