I dont see the big deal in locking up DWill and JStew. With Cam Newton, I believe its better to build the run game around him than the passing game. Think about it as the opposing team. Would you rather face Cam Newton with 2 no name running backs behind him and some very good WR's? or Cam Newton with 2 of the best running backs beside him at all times and our WR core?

Its just my opinion and I know its a passing league, but Cam with Double Trouble for the next few years is going to be dangerous.

You think it is better to build a run game around Newton....in a passing league....when Cam himself is the most effiecient and effective runner on team with great RBs as is?

I would rather Cam have tons of playmakers at WR than playmakers at RB. That is a no brainer. Great WRs also helps a big armed QB that may not be the most accurate QB in the NFL. Plus it is a passing league. It is like John Fox brainwashed people and they don't even realize they want Foxball.

i don't want foxball. i don't want us to have a limited or one dimensional offense. i don't want the offense to be totally relying on one player, either.

i want it to be balanced and lethal in all areas. they can build up the WR corps the same way they did the RB corps...through the draft and i think they've gotten a good start on it. maybe not with early draft picks, but they sure aren't ignoring the position. they can build the defense the same way. draft well and then take advantage of FA and trade opportunities that fall into their lap.

i want the offense to be an offense that can kill you in many ways and that is exactly what we have. the WR corps may not be where we want it to be, but they are young and growing. i have no problem giving them time to do that and, if the right player comes along, adding him to that corps.

i also have no problem limiting cam's carries and letting him share that load with a couple other quality RBs like what we have. it doesn't take anything away from him or the offense. unless your goal is to make him a stat monster, i can't see why you wouldn't want as many quality options as possible to throw to or to hand it off to. we need weapons of all kinds. we have what we have. take advantage of all the talent on the team and find creative ways to use it and then build around them.

well, 2 1st round WRs in 3 years would be great....but with all the holes on D I don't think they can build the WR corp the same way.

Makes me wonder if CRA and others wait for this to happen so they can have a platform to stand on when it comes to their opinion that the Panthers are ignoring other positions.

Fact is, Panthers rarely spend big to bring in talent through free agency.

A LOT of fans hate it, and don't under stand it.

While I, myself, have been hoping the Panthers would have addressed the tackle position, I know the contracts of our stud running backs isn't keeping the Panthers from adding free agents, if they wanted to.

It's obvious, the Panthers are comfortable moving ahead with the talent we have on defense.

They have a plan, and we fans aren't privy to it. I'm not going to chastise them just cause I don't know their plan, or don't agree with it.

As a Panther fan, I remember the lesson learned when ya don't have enough quality backs. The Panthers remember too.

We had them both for cheap for years, now we have to pay.

We have talent on defense. While it's been awhile since we've seen it all come together, ya can't expect the worse every year.

Ron Rivera loves defense. He is working hard to get ours back to a high level.

Are ya going to watch him do it, or are ya just going to harp every chance ya get, specially in preseason, when ya haven't even seen what we have yet.

Do you honestly think that Richardson who is a billionaire would keep Hurney around for years if hee felt he was wasting his money and doing a crappy job? when Carolina has won, FA agent moves have been part of that.

The teams from our division going to the postseason (2 of them since our last visit)....have FA moves making an impact.

It is also a passing league now. We have an aging Steve Smith at WR and a bunch of hope and potential.

What I learned in 2005 was we were a one man offense. It was called Steve Smith. No one took him out of a game all season or the postseason until that Seattle game. When that option was taken away, Fox could not adjust....and in game adjustments were something he never could do well. You think we lost that game b/c Foster or his scrub backup couldn't go?

With the exception of Lafell and Bell ( who we have locked up for two ) we have every offensive player locked up for atleast three years.

Given his play in 2011, I don't think it's a jump to assume Smith will be a potent #1 receiver for the next two years. This is even safer to assume when you consider Newton will progress noticeably better in his overall passing ability.

Lafell manged to to get 600 yards in 2011. He will have much more snaps, knows the offence better along with experience with a 3rd year of being a Nfl Wr. And again this doesn't even factor in Newton's improvement. Looking at all this I think it's suffice to say Lafell will be at worst a solid #2.

There is logjam at number three, but between Murphy, Gettis, Pilares, Adams, Finding a serviceable one shouldn't be to hard.

How is that related to the RB signings? The decisions that created /creating our Wr situation started long before these two RBs signed their current contracts.
