Jonathan Stewart Signs Five Year (36.5 Million) Contract Extension

I didn't say you don't have a right to criticize the team or the GM. I just said you were uniformed and didn't have a clue what you are talking about. I don't see how you can't see they are different. Of course a message board is the perfect place to bitch. It still doesn't mean it is justified or warranted. You seem to confuse having the ability to do something with the concept of being justified or correct in your analysis.

Maybe you should go back and read your post....you clearly pulled the "are you a GM card".

There are many quotes reporters have gotten out of other front offices that have questioned Hurney magic....

"Are you a GM" speaks to your qualifications to have an informed opinion not your right to say what you want. You still seem confused between the two and it isn't difficult to figure out.

As for other GMs questioning Hurney, link or it didn't happen.

(Even if it did, how bright are you when you criticize someone with whom you might need to sit down to make a trade. I think I would question that GMs savvy)

Just for the record p55 is not a GM either and is siding with a GM who has not produced a team with back to back winning seasons in a decade. Hopefully he gets it right going forward....history is against him though.

It's not like we are criticizing Bobby Beathard, or Ron Wolf here....GM's that have proven themselves and built contenders.

again, you are playing the GM card. That is saying anyone who isn't a GM and is critical of a front office doesn't have an informed opinion. So again, taking a step back from YOUR team, it was easy to have an informed opinion about the late Al Davis or Matt Millen WITHOUT being a GM.

as for the Hurney comment, that is why other teams questioned the Panther FO to their local and trusted beat guys.....and they reported it without their name attached to the quote.

Again, human are flawed. Landing an NFL job doesn't suddenly put you in a class where you don't do dumb poo. People in every profession do obvious dumb poo. It happens in the NFL.

Oh, panthers55 says no one can comment on the glaring problems Bobby Petrino had and what a poo coach he was in ATL b/c we never coached in the NFL before.....it isn't an informed opinion. Blah, blah, blah.....

Difference is that siding with your GM doesn't require expertise since you are agreeing with the professional. Criticizing him on the other hand does intimate that you know more and would need some credibility to be believable. For the record Hurney has had more success than any other expansion team GM in their first 16 years. That would qualify as building a contender.

Up until he joined the Redskins he was a football journalist....I'd say that puts him and I on even ground at that point as we both write our opinions.

Wait...how the hell did you just qualify Hurney as building a contender?

P55 didn't say anything about Petrino or Matt Millan or All Davis so stop putting words in my mouth. The issue isn't just taking cheap shots, even an idiot can say this GM sucks or this coach sucks. It doesn't take an informed opinion to say that. Just a negative one. The issue is thinking you could do it better. Unless of course your point is to criticize and offer no solution which in that case is totally useless.

Someone who knows nothing about football at all can just pick anyone whose team has a losing record or a coach who has been fired and say they suck and their organization sucks and will be right most of the time. It doesn't make then informed or their opinion worth while. For that matter even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I can't wait for the "the only reason the franchise is doing well is because of Cam" zombots. There is simply nothing that our backfield can do to justify their actual paycheck (not the 90 million figure that is being thrown around - google the guaranteed money for Christ's sake) in the eyes of these people.

Seriously, if it bothers you to this end, why are you still a fan? Leave already!

Every time I look at these threads I feel dumber for having read some of the drivel that comes out

You should talk to Hurney to see if he will take you under his wing...

You know our record and history from when he joined the team to now. Compare him to Jacksonville or Houston or the Brown when they reconfigured or any other expansion team in years 6 through 16 and tell me who has done better. You don't think we are a contender this year???

but just not an informed one with the Panthers w/o a GM background. Dont question the Hurney Magic, or Fox when he says Jake gives us the best to win, or whatever flaw Rivera eventually will reveal. Got it.

I dont see the big deal in locking up DWill and JStew. With Cam Newton, I believe its better to build the run game around him than the passing game. Think about it as the opposing team. Would you rather face Cam Newton with 2 no name running backs behind him and some very good WR's? or Cam Newton with 2 of the best running backs beside him at all times and our WR core?

Its just my opinion and I know its a passing league, but Cam with Double Trouble for the next few years is going to be dangerous.

actually, it is doubtful that Double Trouble can earn their paychecks this year. The reps just aren't there w/ a healthy roster. It would be like paying 2 LTs starting money.....and have one give Gross a break every couple snaps. They both may be good LTs. But they would not be earning their checks. If you pay someone every down cash....and they barely play half....it is what it is.
