Jonathan Stewart Signs Five Year (36.5 Million) Contract Extension

Recommended Posts

I was wrong on a post today when I said that Kearse had been suspended and it was Neblett. I don't say I am always right nor do I argue like you do for pages once it is clear that it is a waste of time. My ego isn't tied up on this board like your obviously is.

You go on and on with everybody not just me.............

To be fair, you have really have to admit you are wrong on that mistake.

I had a guy quote me that the SF 49ers were not elite because they blew the championship game, even after posting a list of their accomplishments which is really impressive by the way, he could only say they blew the championship game. So you are better than that guy.

I didn't avoid the question. I quoted it and said witch hunt. You want a witch hunt fine, call me TRD, It won't be the first time you are wrong, and I'll still voice my opinion how I want to.

Then answer the question. What was you name before this one. It wasn't your first..... Why not just say it then????

It will never approach 90 million as Wiliams won't see the last 2 years of his contract and Stewart's contract only goes to 42 million if we pick up the fifth year and he produces. The guaranteed money for both of them through 2013 is around 30 million and with what we paid in 2011 and additional salaries in 2012 and 2013 have averaged about 11-12 million per year. The cap hit for the two of them in 2013 will be significant even though the actually salary won't be. But when we have to pay the 9 million roster bonus for Stewart in 2014, we may part ways with Williams. So the whole premise of your argument is worse case scenario and not very likely to even come to pass. So how about not bitching for years about a scenario that won't happen like someone else we know.

Lol so let's wait 2 years and then we may not have to spend a lot of money at the RB position.

How'd trying to rationalize the Delhomme deal work out for you P55? Was it fun for you watching him throw ducks against us when we were playing Cleveland and paying him $12.7 million a little over a year and a half afterwards? I remember not liking this deal and being vocal about it. I also remember thinking the DeAngelo contract was absurd and lookie, he didn't even get 10 rushes a game for all his money in 2011.

I will bitch and moan and whatever you want to call it if I deduce that Hurney is spending the team's cap frivolously. The simple fact of the matter is that this over-investment in the running game is hurting our chances at improving the team in other areas. All this backlash from the people who support it mirrors boxer logic and is a bunch of manufactured arguments to cope with the simple fact that we're overspending there and everybody knows it. Yes, let's keep talking about this concept offense that dictates play selection, where you run the ball in the last 5 minutes of the game against Aaron Rodgers because you think you have the personnel to do it. Not because you're down by 14, the game situation has nothing to do with what we're calling here.

Or maybe let's come down to reality and figure out that if we fall behind by three scores (which is pretty plausible since we didn't do nearly enough to fix the defense) Ron Rivera isn't going to give two shits about how well we can run the ball.

That is an example of a simple error....not an example of admitting to being wrong once you have taken a stance on an issue.

Like I said, you fail to realize you do some of the exact same things you just complained about. You argue the opposite side of stances as I often...but like me you are going on and on and on and on. I just can admit I do it with issues unlike some.

And I have no ego. I am wrong often. But this is a sport message board where we share opinions...I for one can handle opposing views. I actually like opposing views.

Once again you are distorting the facts as usual to suit your purposes. We signed the extension with Jake in 2009 to free up cap space to keep Peppers. What he received in guaranteed money was largely what we were going to have to give him anyway in 2009 and an incentive to do the extension in the first place since there was a clause that in essence made it a 1 year deal in 2010 allowed us to void the deal in 2010. Everyone knew that he would never see a large portion of that money.

As for the fact you think we can only run, I guess once again you fail to grasp we had the 13th best passing game in total yards last year with a rookie. We had the most 80 yard drives of any team and were one of the most prolific big play offenses in the league. Given our philosophy which is build from within we had a great passing game last year. Our running game is not stopping our passing game. What stopped it was lack of a franchise quarterback which we now have. Our offense was top 7 in total yards, we were 4th in yards per play. We are not one dimensional and the investment in the run game has not held back the passing game.

So the bitching is really unwarranted and unneeded. And a waste of time. Carry on though...............

When did accusing others of another login name become a valid argument technique? I guess it would work pretty good against six graders.

Then answer the question ??? What is so hard?? I would think a sixth grader could do it, why can't you??? There is no accusation, if you have been following posts for years which you claim to have done since you talked about me supporting Delhomme years ago then you posted under another name. Why not tell us who it was unless you are ashamed to admit it?? For that matter why change it at all if you don;t have something to hide?? I have posted here for years under the same name for better or worse..........

So answer the question................

I still say DeAngelo gets traded in the offseason for a few picks or a player or something. I'm thinking Arizona or Green Bay.

JStew deserved the extension, but still we sunk a lot of money into RBs when our defense can't stop a fuggin wet paper bag. Running won't matter when we're behind.

you say a team will trade for an expensive 30 yr old RB? That sounds great.

I would think that team would just draft one in the second round and pay him cheap....and they would have a 20 yr old kid locked up for the next several years.

Or teams could see a 30 year old that doesn't have the tread of a 27 year old workhorse and will get him with no guaranteed money left on his deal. I think the majority of his cap hits happened this and last year, so some team will get him for 3, 4 mil a year maybe? I'm just guestimating off the top of my head.
