Jonathan Stewart Signs Five Year (36.5 Million) Contract Extension

Recommended Posts

Timid RBs getting stopped behind the line don't generally average 5 yards.

he has averaged more negative yards per carry the last 2 seasons vs 2007.

Sure they do if they run for a 50 yard play around the end and then get stuffed for 3 plays behind the line and then average 3 yards per carry for the next 10 plays. Lets say the negative plays were for minus 3 yards a piece. So we have 14 plays for a total of 71 or a total of 5 yards per play.

As for the comparison to the past 2 years do you have stats to show that or did you make it up??

You have to do the math yourself. But there is a correction, for whatever reason his profile on SI doesn't have 2011. I just grabbed the last two years assuming it was 2011 and 2010 but that was comparing him to 2009, 2010.

2007 - lost 32 yards on 144 attempts

2010- lost 28 yards on 87 attempts

2009- lost 61 yards on 216 attempts

can't do last year unless you know another site that tracks it. can't believe SI doesn't have 2011

And yes, OL play and other things factor in to yards lost at time....

In fairness, that isnt Williams saying he wasn't giving max effort....just willing to take advice on how to get better and change his routine.

Coach/Player speak. Vinny might have taught him some things/took him under his wing, but I don't believe for a second D-Will wasn't giving it what he had. I've had people help me out on job,and it was helpful, but I was still giving 100%. I would have said similar things.

I said D-Will was a different runner in 08. Lot more power, little less burst. But he was still was better than Foster in 07, and he sure wasn't timid. And he didn't get his yards because Foster wore out the defense. That is the only time I've ever heard yards contributed to player like that before.

Anyone who remembers what was going on in 2007 knows that Williams had issues in 2006 and 2007 and Vinny set him straight. He came into camp after working harder than ever in the off-season with a new attitude and a new improved work ethic. I don't understand why the two of you can't ever admit you were wrong and just argue until the other person gives up. You win, honestly I know what happened and so do others here. I give up. Believe what you want...............

Oh yeah! That reminds me of another argument people used on Williams. Take away his big runs and he averages 3.something. Even then they wouldn't take away Foster big run of like 14 and his average was in the 2.something range. Funny poo.

I believe Vinny gave Williams good advice. He changed his work habits to get better. But that happens all the time....

Williams didn't claim he wasn't giving max effort prior to Vinny coming to down. Poor effort has never been a label for Williams....you don't set the NCAA yardage record being that type guy.

Cam IMO gave 100% last year. Tons of vets could tell him to approach things different from a preparation standpoint. Like a bigger focus on footwork. Him putting more focus on aspects of his game to get better per the advice of others doesn't mean the effort wasn't there before.

Williams said Vinny made him better. I agree.

But what are these well known Williams issues?

That doesn't tell you how many negative plays he had though. That tells you how many yards he lost as a function of total running plays right? I thought we were talking about how many times he was tackled behind the line. Theoretically he could have been tackled behind the line 20 times in 2007 for a total of 32 yards and could have been tackled behind the line for 20 times for a total of 61 yards. Do you have better numbers?

And you do know this is a bunny trail, right??

Vinny took him under his wing and helped him out(it is great to have a support system), but your implying that Williams wasn't giving 100% with the "new work ethic" push, and that he wasn't already better than Foster.

I only have what us common folk have at our disposal. May not be perfect, but it is something....and it is an indication you may be not be remembering things correctly.

You got anything to support your claim?

Keeps reminding himself that CRA never admits he is wrong no matter what the subject or issue, He works by beating every subject into the ground changing each post to meet his needs.

Has to remember that this is CRA's attempt to continue to change the discussion from the original issue.

Stops posting and goes to bed..........................................

So you avoided the question. Who did you post under before this name. It isn't your first.

I have said it before and I will say it again.... You do realize you too are guilty of some of those things as well right? It is why we go on and on with each other.

Nighty night.

Who are you arguing with about Foster? Yourself??? He is long gone and not an issue for years. No one is discussing Foster but you. What does that have to do with Williams??? Another bunny trail to deflect the discussion in another direction. You are TRD or someone just like him.................

I was wrong on a post today when I said that Kearse had been suspended and it was Neblett. I don't say I am always right nor do I argue like you do for pages once it is clear that it is a waste of time. My ego isn't tied up on this board like your obviously is.

You go on and on with everybody not just me.............
