We aren't even close to finding someone to groom to replace Smitty, still don't have a sure #2 or 3 WR. Have one defensive lineman and one defensive back......in a passing league. We simply arent showing a commitment to catchup with league rules and how they will continue to slant.

Over investing in RBs has limited this team. It isn't the sole reason we havent addressed other spots....but it has been one of the reasons.

You are suppose to pay DEs and CBs in a passing league. We just pay on the high end...which is ANOTHER reason we have limitations. No singular move prevents us from doing things....big picture, several things do.

In a passing league, we should of never been in this postion to begin with. We had an emerging 1st round RB prior to the 08 draft and yet we acted like the cupboard was bare.

We paid Wiliams at the end of 2010 so the 2009 and 2010 seasons have nothing to do with overpaying for running backs. The only season that remotely could be considered is 2011 and even then we didn't pay more than 10 million for double trouble which is not much more than some teams paid for one back. And really from a salary cap point of view we are spending 12 million on Williams, Stewart and Tolbert combined in 2012. It isn't until 2013 that we are even paying a premium for our running backs so the whole it has kept our team back is ridiculous. If you are talking actually salaries it is even less.

The three of them cost less than 10% of our cap. In fact in 2012, the cost of Charles Johnson alone which is 11,000,000 is about the same as all three combined. For that matter Jordan Gross cost us 11,500,000 this season. Each of them cost us almost 10% of the cap themselves.

Your whole premise is flawed with poor logic. First of all Wiliams never showed much at all up until 2008 so drafting Stewart wasn't a waste at all. Many people would suggest that drafting Stewart was just the fire Williams needed under his butt to start producing. Secondly, until 2013 we aren't paying 2 running backs featured money and there is significant thought that WIlliams will never see the last 2 years of his contract. None of his money is guaranteed after 2012 and his cap hit if done as a June 1 cut won't be bad after 2013. So we might end up paying big bucks to the both of them for 1 year.

But this whole paying 90 millions for 2 backs is surely not going to happen unless they both produce at a very high level. So please give it a rest and let it play out. This year all of our backs are making the same as Adrian Peterson is making by himself. Lets see what happens next year before bitching for another year like you did with Williams about how that would stop up signing Stewart. It will never approach 90 million as Wiliams won't see the last 2 years of his contract and Stewart's contract only goes to 42 million if we pick up the fifth year and he produces. The guaranteed money for both of them through 2013 is around 30 million and with what we paid in 2011 and additional salaries in 2012 and 2013 have averaged about 11-12 million per year. The cap hit for the two of them in 2013 will be significant even though the actually salary won't be. But when we have to pay the 9 million roster bonus for Stewart in 2014, we may part ways with Williams. So the whole premise of your argument is worse case scenario and not very likely to even come to pass. So how about not bitching for years about a scenario that won't happen like someone else we know.
