Jonathan Stewart Signs Five Year (36.5 Million) Contract Extension

Recommended Posts

Quick....who are the running backs for the patriots?

We just watched a team with modest running backs run all over us.

In today's NFL, a running back is a commodity and it makes no sense to spend guaranteed money on running backs.

You spend money on defensive linemen who can rush the passer. Like the Giants.

Marty Hurney was just on the radio saying it was important to keep key players. What about Julius Peppers?

Quick...the Pats have Brady. Our version just arrived last year and was a rookie.

Houston has modest running backs? What league do you watch?

Understand your point re: RB's being a commodity. And they may be for us once Cam and the passing game is fully developed.

So what should we have done? Sign Mario Williams? And what if he turns out to be a bad fit in our system? If we are going to spend something on the d-line it needs to be draft picks.

Hurney tried to keep Peppers. Julius didn't want to be here.

A year and a half of bitching about William's contract and how we wouldn't be able to sign Stewart.

Then bitching about how we should trade Stewart before we lose him for nothing.

Now bitching that we paid too much to sign him and don't need a running game in a passing league.

Some folks are going to bitch about anything and everything.

I guess I ought to be happy I don't have to live with them and listen to them bitch about everything. Putting up with them here is plenty bad as it is,

HELL fuging YES.

I am fairly new here to this particular forum but a Panther fan since the inaugural game in Clemson (I have the fuging pictures and ticket stub to prove it). You mother fugers that have decided to ride both sides of the fence have finally went too far.

I have listened for months about how we should have cut Williams and signed Stewart. Now we have both and options.

Please STFU if your IQ is below 75. This scale involves both civilian and NFL IQ's.

Stewart is family and can run the ball better than you.

And yes I am including ALL of you.

GREAT DAY in Carolina. JStew is ours forever.

Late to the party (had to work).

Maybe they frontloaded DWills contract with the understanding that he'd restructure and free up money for Stewie? And DWill agreed that it made sense.

90 million? That's total, not this year. Even if it was, that's 18 mil a year over 5 years for 3 RBs. Denver paid that for a QB. We'll win more games than Denver this year.

Think you're over estimating the amount of carries Tolbert will get.

Double Trouble last year

66% of our rushing yards

43% of our rushing TDs.

So if our D is weak again, Cam will be in passing formations often. That limits Williams' chances. Tolbert is the ideal RB as a pass protector and screen pass guy....but it also means he will still rushes in that role IMO.

So suggesting Double Trouble this year will be roughly 60% of our ground game isn't far fetched. Cam isn't going to stop running. He was our leading rusher tonight out of starters...just like we saw last preseason and often last year.

I would suggest you need to factor in our D won't allow us to pound RBs. Shotgun means more Cam running and more potential looks for Tolbert

They are both great RBs...but that isn't the end all be all to the conversation people like to spin it as.
