Preseason Primer - Texans at Panthers

Texans at Panthers

Saturday August 11

Bank of America Stadium

Last game Dec18, 2011 Panthers won easily 28-13

Things to watch:

Captain Munnerlyn: Much like Chris Gamble last off season, taking a lot of heat from fans on poor play. Gamble stepped up, will Captain?

Amini Silatolu: Currently the only starting rookie on the depth chart (Although I suspect Luke Kuechly will start come game time). It is possible he could single handedly improve our run game a great deal.

Armanti Edwards: Having the best camp of his career. Will it translate when it counts, or is he a practice player?

Joe Adams: Could overtake Armanti's punt return duties quickly with a couple of good runbacks.

Battle of Kickers: If Mare misses field goals he may not make it through the preseason. Panthers have been impressed with Medlock.

Defensive Tackles: Starting jobs here are still up for grabs. McClain and Edwards are listed as the starters, but that may not be the case come the regular season.

The home crowd: Following the largest fan fest turnout since 1996, will Bank of America stadium be rocking in the preseason?

What are Texans fans saying?

The worst thing is when Cam just runs 10 yards and lays down so we got like no hits on him at all. It's hard to stop that when you cannot hit him. The way you stop a running QB is to make him scared to run it a lot.

Upsets will happen, no doubt, but losses to the Panthers & Colts was inexcusable IMO. Cam is a very good qb, but good teams put bad teams away regardless of officials making a couple of bad calls. Don't leave it in the officials hands & there won't be an issue. Just saying...
