It's looking more and more likely that Captain Munnerlyn will start again this season

You are just writing off last year like it means nothing. You can't just say he sucked last year and this year it'll be different because the past is the past. Just because someone is listed as a starter doesn't mean they are starter material. You should know that by watching any NFL game.

I didn't say he would be different I said looking at the past has nothing to do with the present. Anyone who has every played a sport at any level knows that you can improve with effort and practice. This is only his third year, it isn't as if he can't get better. Clearly Captain is playing well in camp and deserves to show what he can do. Is he a starter?? Lets see if he is now. I love people who decide they know something without seeing the results or thinking that because it happened in the past it can't be different in the future.

You cannot say the past has nothing to do with the present. Captain has consistently shown he is nothing more than a nickelback. No one is saying it can't change with hard work but to totally dismiss the past in which he has shown a pattern of inconsistent play plays a factor.

We are much more likely to see the same old Captain than we are a new and improved CB. At some point you can't just keep hoping for the best.

Last I heard Captain was starting so again why the arguing about ancient history other than you just like to argue??

Do you skip other post to respond to me? I am just sticking up for a guy people are claiming should be cut or benched today for a rookie sitting out.

Why don't you pick apart those claiming we are doomed by him being on the roster

I think most want him in the nickel role. We just need to play whoever will be best for the present come week 1....that can evolve as the season goes along

Yes I can say the past is different from the present unless you believe that people can't and don't change. That goes against everything I believe in. And again inconsistent play in the past has nothing to do with how a guy plays in the future just like if you saw Aaron Rodgers in his third season when he didn't play at all you would be able to assume he will never amount to anything and would never have a passer rating of 122 a few years later. For that matter his first year of starting full-time has little to do with how he did last year.

Players get better or they don't play, lets see what happens.

Actually you responded to me first, I just responded back. Don't worry though I am equal opportunity responder. Some people just aren't worth arguing with. You on the other hand are special.......

Awe schucks...you are gonna make me blush. For whatever reason we seem to be on the same page in the offseason and then the regular season starts and you can bet money on us seeing it different. Oh well, that is what makes it interesting

We had LESS talent in the secondary in 2003, when we had one of the best defenses in the league. How the hell did that happen?

I'm not saying I don't want a bigger corner, but the fact of the matter is, most cornerbacks aren't big.

And you can defend the pass without bigger corners.

Well having the best DL in all of football helps. So does being allowed to manhandle WRs. Ricky Manning Jr was a god under those conditions.

Um, I think it was

....before the league started cracking down heavily on illegal contact

....before the top 4 passers were chucking it for around 5000 yards

....before the running game became essentially worthless and most of the successful teams were still playing ball control offense

....before the true advent of the spread offense at the collegiate level, and the resulting production of a higher number of talented QB prospects
