As it stands he's the 2nd best corner on the team. Its not his fault that no one else has stood out. Cap is doing his job, maybe some of the others should start doing theirs.

he's listed as the starter because he needs the fewest reps of any corner on our roster not named chris gamble. the "starters" will play like two series and then ride the bench.

I've forgotten about Nate Ness too. This guy has experience in this league and could just as easily take the #2 spot.

and this post shows how foolish most of the fanbase is, that some free agent they never heard of, gets signed, and they feel he can easily take the starting spot from captain. how many years you going to keep saying this? until it happens and ga can say i told you so?

Fact of the matter is, is the league and especially our division is throwing the ball around like crazy. We've got 7 capable corners that can play and I think they'll all be needed this season.

Regardless of Rivera's comments I think the fact that Hogan is still having issues with his knee is no bueno. He's been injured the entire time he's been with us. No more injured players during the draft please. Bring in guys who can compete from day 1 so Captain isn't handed the job simply because other guys can't workout and practice. Captain is not #2 material...simple and plain....to me he's a #4 and a special teamer

As long as the D Line improves this year (which it should) our secondary is going to look better even with Captain as the #2 cb. with that said I still expect Hogan or Norman to take the job.

Why do ago many want to wash their hands of guys who had a bad 2011.....on a team riddled with injuries on D, a weak front 7 and were in a new scheme with no offense (that they tweaked all year bc of injury)???

Can't put too much emphasis on 2011 play. A lot to influence things that year....and some of these guys being talked about like trash have showed legit potential over multiple games prior

Captain shows more potential on special teams than he does as a DB. He's ok against a slot guy or the 4th wideout. But he's not a number 2. No way (IMO).

Martin has always blown coverage and he's never been able to tackle. Takes awful angles. Gets torched. It wasn't just 2011. He's a below avg Safety. A serviceable backup...probably.

Captain got the chance to start in 2011 bc of how he played as a starter in 2010. When Gamble was benched. You don't consider what Capt did heading into the 2011 an example of solid play and potential?

Same for Martin. His starts at FS prior to 2011 showed lots of promise. Again, he is a FS...coverage is suppose to be his strength and has shown that prior to last year.

People block all that out and only focus on 2011 for some reasons with those 2. Yeah, they need to improve but they aren't what some portray them as.

I still don't get how some trash Martin and praise Godfrey in the same breath. That is crazy. Bash em both or praise them both....Godfrey has shown he can't cover or tackle in the open field for yearS.

This makes life extremely easy for the other's team OC. He just gives the QB these instructions:

OK. Go up to the line of scrimmage. Four wide. Tell the tallest wide receiver to line up across from the captain. You'll know where the captain is because he's a midget. Throw the ball to the WR lined up against the captain. Throw the ball high, not low. And don't worry about the safeties. They can't tackle. Or cover. On two. BREAK!

We all saw this happen last season. A lot.
