Defense: Scheme vs Stacking Talent

Mintal, this is the solution I actually see the Panthers taking...

We give Moore another year to prove himself in '09 and if he looks like he has it, that's our QB for the future. Best case scenario, no draft picks used or huge contracts given out.

If not, we use a mid rounder 2nd-4th round pick on a QB in next year's draft (very deep at QB) OR a couple late round/UDFAs. Maybe one of both (mid-rounder + UDFA) Really it just depends on perceived value and who our scouts like. Jake is the starter for another year or two after that and then we turn the reigns over to the new guy.

Now what is wrong with this strategy? Absolutely nothing.

Seems alot more reasonable than saying we HAVE to use a 1st rounder (don't have on next year anyway) on a QB, just for the sake of using a 1st on one, whether he's worth it or not. I sure as hell wouldn't trade places with the Bucs and take Freeman round 1.

No, not true. That's not what I want.

what I also don't want is to not explore the option at all altogether, ...something some people would be completely fine with.

that hasn't been true for the last three years.

and if he's still being his old inconsistent self, some good games here, some bad games there, and we make the playoffs but he proves ineffective, yet again, you going to agree with me then? Or are you going to write it off and keep making excuses like you feel compelled to do because in your mind you have no other choice but to?

No, what's happening here is that you are absolutely hating on Delomme and I'm saying that he's an average QB that had a bad day. Nothing to get hardcore on and I won't respond again. You have expressed yourself about this same subject on something like 5 different threads and no doubt will continue to. That's fine, have a nice day...

Until you give me a better option, and you haven't, I'll support the QB that is starting...

Amen to that, this sh-t is getting old. Jake is our QB for now. Panthers FO will go with whoever they feel works best for the future. Nothing you can do, have a nice day.

Truth, I'm out as well...

I've got to tell you I have not seen any other football franchise riddled with fans who just constantly make excuses for every single thing wrong with a team.

yes, lets support mediocrity.

call me a Jake hater, because I don't give a fug no matter how much evidence or facts I throw in your face because you people truly prove that love is blind.

In the meantime, I'll continue looking up the facts, and I'm not surprised my answer didn't satisfy you because I don't think any answer I could've given you besides an endorsement for Delhomme and a crappy thumbs up would've.

You can look up all the facts you want, but Delhomme will still be the starting QB in 09 and there's not a damned thing you can do about it. So what's the point?

considering you defended such panther greats as Mike Trgovac every step of the way, I'm not too surprised at your apologetics.

You just don't get it do you? They aren't saying that Jake is a great quarterback. All they are saying is that he is going to be the quarterback and their is nothing you or I can do about it and they are going to support the Panthers, and if that includes Jake (which it will), then he will be part of that supported group.

No, he doesn't understand that and he never will...

Some people understand the concept that just because you want it to be true doesn't necessarily mean it will be and others just don't, it's how it works...

I support the Panthers organization but I can criticize Jakes performance, and he played like sh*t in that playoff game. I not going to make any excuses I love the Panthers always will, but we need another QB, so if I buy a ticket to watch them play I have the right to boo and talk sh*t about them when they under perform, and cheer them when they win. Just like Mike Singletary said "I want winners."
