Defense: Scheme vs Stacking Talent

LOL See what I mean...

Sure lets trade our QB situation with the Titans! Woohoo!!

you tell me, out of all the investment we've made on defense, just what kind of return we've gotten overall (individual players' success aside), when the Panthers are giving up 30 points a game in the second half of the season.

Ahhh, could it be quarterback? Just lay off it, we know how you feel. Hopefully we will upgrade in a year or two, but since you have no solution other than to trash, (and there isn't one), you really need to let up...

No I think I'd rather back up my opinion with credible sources and stats rather than just exploit blind faith.

I get what your saying and I agree Meeks gets wood when he thinks about the players he has....If you would have included the Colts then everybody else would have probably got it.

did you read the post?

Yeah, I'm more than happy to do that, though not necessarily happy to do the research. I've never tooted Delhomme as being more than an average QB. You have never done anything more than trash him. But you continue to trash, in inventive ways without an exit strategy. What's your plan? As much time as you spend trashing him, you must have a plan, what is it? The fact is you don't, you're just trashing for trashing's good, nothing more...

Like I said, there's no reason we shouldn't be top 10 D and Meeks will help get us there. To me, the biggest problem was Trgo, and to a lesser extent Lucas. Both of those guys are gone. Only issue I have is the DLine, but hopefully our rookies help there.

you're going off nothing more than some kind of misguided intuition here.

It's not trashing, what's done is done. I'm just going over the research to see what the best option for us would be to have solid QB play after Delhomme's career is finished here, because you know, it is going to happen sometime.

And you are not telling us what that is, you are just alluding to it. What is it, I've made the request before and it was ignored, I'll make it again. As I said in my post, it's time to look for a replacement, but you seem to already have one. What is the solution?

The solution is to take QB more seriously.

stop pussyfooting around the issue. Stop trying to convince yourselves that the running game and defense alone plus an average QB is going to get you to the top like the Steelers tried to do for 14 years with Cowher before they finally changed their outlook.

don't give 40 million dollar contracts to guys who've turned the ball over 9 times in the last two postseason games. Rather let them play out the rest of their contract and give them a chance to redeem themselves before you "reward" them.

Take a REALLY good look at Matt Moore. Start to give him more of a role in the offense in preseason, make sure you know he's your future, and not just some guy you "feel good about". If he's not, we need to set our sights a bit higher to give ourselves a better chance at getting a QB that protects the ball and can consistently move it.

this is not any kind of league to think you're just going to make it by throwing all your bones at running game and defense, and try to get lucky like we did when we got Delhomme.

Well yes, I did see where you put one stat in that diatribe, but none other. Yes, our QB had a horrendous game in the playoffs, where he mostly is the most effective QB in the league. It's time to let it go...

I'm high on Moore too, but he wasn't very good last pre-season. I'm hoping he will improve...

that hasn't been true for the last three years.

and if he's still being his old inconsistent self, some good games here, some bad games there, and we make the playoffs but he proves ineffective, yet again, you going to agree with me then? Or are you going to write it off and keep making excuses like you feel compelled to do because in your mind you have no other choice but to?
