PreSeason Game #1: Panthers/Texans

Is it some rule that Carolina has to play 3-4 Ds in the preseason? I hate that. They spend all camp playing 4-3 looks in general and then go into preseason games where they face 3-4 Ds with no prep work.

Preseason is the prep work for the regular season. Plus we don't game plan at all in the first game so facing a 3-4 is a great thing. We have worked all training camp versus a 4-3 so we need work against a 3-4. Do you care more about looking good against something familiar or experience gained from facing the unfamiliar?

Gentleman,

Relax... Preseason games are ment for us to drink beer, sh$t talk to the opposing team and enjoy ourselves. My god, of we lose it doesn't matter!! I for one will not stress myself with who starts and who is cut. Thats what we pay the coaches to do. So enjoy this magiacl time of the year cause after preseason... It's on!!

I care about guys not getting hurt. Mainly a certain QB.

I am all about guys testing stuff out in the preseason. My personal preference is for OL, a rookie for example, not going into stuff cold.

On a couple issues raised...

We aren't going to see TD. Well maybe he goes out for the coin toss.

Surprisingly, Rivera said they will spend a couple days preparing for Houston. That doesn't mean a game plan, but probably some work against the kind of D they run.

As others have pointed out, meaningless depth chart is meaningless.

Why not? Better now than in the regular season. At least now they aren't gameplanning for us. He can take it one step at a time. First he see the 3-4, then the 3-4 on steroids, then when they have installed a gameplan for us. Can't say I see your logic at all.

You do not want Cam getting hurt, but you are willing to let him run willy nilly all year? I don't get the logic? jk

I know you are talking about not getting hurt in a meaningless preseason game. Meant more to work the kinks out, than any actually football work. Get back into the swing of things and not get hurt. Yup, that is the first preseason game in a nutshell.

I am curious about Cam's playing time? Will it be two series? Or if he plays well in the first series, is he done? Does he only get a certain amount of plays? Or do they have a list of plays, and when the list is over, so is he? These and many more questions to be answered Sat. nite.

My giddy is ready. And GOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the above poster said Rivera was quoted saying he will prep the team for HOU. So that makes me happy. I would assume it being a 3-4 plays into that...getting the OL a little warmed up before spending an entire night blocking a 3-4 cold.

What do you assume Rivera meant by that. I guess you don't get his logic. I mean Carolina walks through plays before they practice them in camp....I don't get why going in totally cold to blocking a 3-4 seems like a good idea. I prefer they spend a day or so refreshing themselves about blocking it and then practicing it all night.

I don't want anyone getting hurt. But as for Cam, the concern with him is getting hurt in the pocket and not as a runner.
