Rivera's Remarks: Trench Work

Recommended Posts

Just a little recap for you guys...

Injuries/Day's Off

DeAngelo Williams- Attending Funeral

Steve Smith- Knee Contusion (Rivera expects him back tomorrow)

Geoff Hangartner- Day Off

Charles Johnson and Jordan Gross- Day Off Tomorrow

Mike Pollack- Day Off/ Sore Shoulder

Rivera's Notes

Says the team is spending an extended amount of time doing one on one's trying to improve the pass rush.

Likes Hardy, says he is looking good and is showing maturity. Rivera said the Hardy is at 13% body fat at 290 "some odd" pounds. He also said it was Hardy's idea to put on the extra weight not the coaching staffs. Rivera said he is really excited about Hardy this year.

Said that the team did really well today in the goal line drills. (Video of goal line drill, Kuchley with the stop of the day on Tolbert: http://www.panthers....62-344ef277a278)

Said Armanti has looked good but as they go through the "season" they need to see him make plays in traffic and make plays while getting hit.

Mentions that Norman is close to returning and they hope to have him this Saturday.

Says the offensive line is key and that Bell and Silatolu are starting to play very consistent, so now it's time for them to take it to the next level. Rivera praised Gross, Kalil, and Hangartner for helping develop Silatolu and Bell.

Said Derek Anderson has a great presence in the meeting room and locker room, also likes how he has helped both the quarterback's and wide receiver's develop. Rivera also said that Anderson is still number two on the depth chart, but the rotations for games aren't set yet.

That's about it...

He has a unique skill set... Despite what others here have said, I've always believed that he'd be back... Now we'll just have to see what he brings.

People on twitter were saying that AE was in st QB for a few Wildcat plays... I'm surprised it's taken this long to see this look. I figured he'd be a gadget type player from day one... But I was wrong.

Hope he can become a contributer in this O

Looks like AE will be aPanther this year. Now we know that Smitty, LaFell, and AE will be here for sure...

seriously, that's how you connect the dots? wait, this has to be a joke..

b/c he said season.

its a hell of a stretch.

Smith/Lafell/Adams/Pilares/Murphy/Gettis have to be favorites.

With tutu getting 3WR reps as well you really have to wonder where AE would fit in.

Rivera and/or Hurney have made similar comments in the past referencing pre-season so I assume he simply misspoke..

I could be wrong, but I think he's referring to the pre-season.

Watch the video. He is definitely talking about the regular season.

"Armanti is coming along very well, and the nice thing for Armanti is this is his 3rd full training camp AS a wide receiver. We're starting to see what you're looking for as far as progress now. As we go further into the season, and start actually playing the games, you know, we're going to have to see some things from Armanti. We gotta see him make plays in traffic, make plays when he's getting hit. And he's done a nice job of that so far."

The meltdown is going to be epic, epic I say.
