Derek Anderson is "still ahead" of Jimmy Clausen in the competition to back-up Cam Newton.

It's a troubling sign for Clausen's future, though he could still move ahead of Anderson with a strong preseason. Despite Panthers coach Ron Rivera's June musing to the contrary, Clausen may never sniff another NFL starting job.

i've moved on. he's irrelevant. barring injury he will get a jersey as often as he did last year.

my only hope is that some desperate team that has just lost it's starting QB and it's backup QB will ask for a late round draft pick. no reason to expect much more than that from him.

Rivera has made a point with the Otah cut. If you aren't producing and just taking up a roster spot that can be better used for someone else, you're gone. Clausen will most likely be cut.

3 QBs are needed for insurance. I don't think he'll get cut until another one is acquired.
