There have been several changes to #Panthers practice times. The Wed. Aug 8 & Thurs. Aug 9 practices will go from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

He was primarily a FS in San Fran, backing up Goldson. Like most safeties today, I'm sure he can play both strong and free.

He was a SS in 2010 I believe and that was the season he saw the field the most.

I don't think lots of S are that interchangeable to both spots. Not good at both at least in the traditional since. Martin and Godfrey are definitely a FS and a SS. Now you could play them in the other spots but in the traditional roles it plays against what they actually do well.

bored isn't the word i would use. he and that new guy haven't learned that the PR guys make it up at this point, not the coaching staff.

I'm not sure Martin can play either one.

As to Smith, it appeared he was playing free late in the NFC champ game. Also, on ST he was not the gunner. He was involved in the 2nd line of coverage, much like Kuechly at BC.

Me too. That news was more positive than what we heard out of camp of him as a rookie. This camp I hear more good news than last year, the most yet.

It is plausible to believe that the guy is getting better and better. Hopefully for the Panthers sake that will be good enough for him to contribute. We will see. I am just commenting on how funny it will be when or if he breaks through considering how much he has been lambasted in this forum.
