C'mon dude. There's no way anyone could possibly consider a player RECOVERING FROM ACL SURGERY to be the best player available, unless he was 1st Team All-American before the tear, and people just hope he can return to that form.

With that said, there's no way Hogan was the best player available.

Which player would you have used our fourth round pick on that would come in and play at an All-Pro level immediately?

Actually it is a smart move to take a chance on a 2nd round talent in the 4th round.

Upside definitely outweighs the risk.

When the player doesn't have an ACL TEAR HE'S TRYING TO RECOVER FROM, yes, it makes sense then.

When you need immediate help in your secondary, you don't draft a player most expect not to play that season.

Just let it go. There's nothing you can say that makes drafting a player with an ACL tear a smart move.

Talent wise and skill wise he WAS the best player available.

He had the talent and the skill of a second round pick, but his ACL surgery caused him to drop.

You are so enamored with the fact that the had ACL surgery that you are putting an injury over talent.

It's a good thing that the Bronco's didn't do that with Peyton Manning.

Carolina Panthers@Panthers

Rain has intensified. Panthers are leaving the practice field. Not announced yet where team will continue practice.

After what happened at Pocono Raceway...get their asses indoors. Lightning don't care if your name is Joe Blow or <fill in your favorite Panther>.

ok guys i think we've found our next GM candidate as he obviously knows how to properly scout and draft players better than hurney ever has so lets field him some questions about how we're going to handle and scout next years draft class

Dumb question, not worth answering. Go ask someone stupid enough to fall for the typical "WHO WOULD YOU TAKE" question that always gets pulled out of a hat when they don't have anything else to say.

The fact is, there were CBs available who weren't recovering from ACL surgery. In fact, odds are Hogan was probably one of only a few, if not the ONLY CB in the draft recovering from an ACL surgery, and yet that's the guy that Hurney took.

Makes zero sense.
