Replacement Ref's....

Must say after watching the game tonight.... Wow...

And I am not sure if its a good wow, or a bad wow....

What I mean from that is it was obvious the Ref's were not making calls based on the fact that they are GREEN as hell...

Good if you just want to see the game played...

I was mentioning to my wife that in a normal game you would have seen 10 flags thrown, but tonight it seemed as if the only time the refs thre the flag was on OBVIOUS fouls...

They looked like the brand new guy at work who didnt have a damn clue... Couldnt even explain calls, nor knew the hand signals, and players numbers at times......

Good or bad???

I like it,(and hate it cause they look like rookies) Let them play... Its the reason why we have challenges.... (but with saying that, i am sure the replacement refs will blow some games..... HOPE its not ours)

They flat sucked. I can't believe the NFL couldn't find better officials than what we saw tonight.

It's like they just grabbed some guys out of high school officiating, gave them a 8 hour course, and shoved them out there. They were totally unprepared.

I actually didn't mind how the game was reffed. I thought the way the official announced the two penalties I saw was pretty amateur, the way he just kinda did a hand signal and said "holding" and that was pretty much it, but we'll see how it goes in the regular season. I prefer tonight's style to that game toward the end of the season (forget which) where the guy was literally calling a penalty every other play.

Officiating isn't nearly as easy as people make it out to be.

A lot of these guys are from college. The fact of the matter is, when you have the athletes you have in the NFL going full speed every play, it is difficult to get every call. That is why you don't see holding called unless it is blatant most of the time.

I think they did a good job personally and it looked as if they only threw the flag if it was obvious, which I like. Besides, it is just the preseason. They still have plenty of weeks to improve and get used to the speed of the game.

So no, the NFL couldn't have found better officials. That is why we need to start appreciating the officials we do have. Do they make mistakes? Yes, but every referee in every sport is bound to make one, particularly in the NBA and NFL when everything is going so fast. Human error is expected. Like they say, you don't know what you have until you lose it.

this is typical in all preseason games. keep them moving. nobody wants to watch them anyway. Once the ticket money gets to the box office the games are already over for the owners. Its a profit thing and since it means nothing, no need o prolong it anyway.

no issue here. There is not that much disparity from the starters and their backups IMO.
