Matt Moore verging on losing his job to another rookie and/or black QB

Sylvianlight, are you really suggesting you need to see Garrard play well in the regular season for you to be convinced he's the best QB on the team?

He won a playoff game while starting for the Jaguars. That's about as remarkable an accomplishment as any QB leading a normal franchise to a Super Bowl berth.

The only time Moore's ever turned it up in his career is when his team's been just about eliminated from playoff contention, and obviously Tannehill isn't a QB talented enough to start week one as a rookie while he learns the game.

Many people have done many things in their pasts. Garrard has been out for a year and the Jaguars didn't seem to think much of him when they released him. Perhaps he is the best QB on the team, but I'll wait and see.

Also I don't know what your comment about the Jaguars is supposed to mean. The Jaguars were one of the best teams in the NFL in their early years. Mark Brunell won playoff games yearly with the team and I think I recall them beating Dan Marino's Dolphins by about 100 points one year.

As for Garrard's Super Bowl-esque performance? He was 9/21 passing for 140 yards with a TD and 2 Interceptions (41.9 QB Rating) in his playoff win, although he ran the ball well that game, something he no longer seems adept at.

Moore only had one chance as a starter before the team collapsed with the Panthers. Yeah, he blew that one opportunity by losing a couple games, getting benched, then earning the spot back before succumbing to injury. Last year it wasn't his fault that Chad Henne lost every game as a starter and he wasn't given a chance until Henne was injured.

does he deserve a cookie for trying to do what any player is willing to do in this league for his team?

No, we just don't get why you go out of your way to hate on a former Panther. You don't owe him anything. I'm not going to go make a thread to celebrate Goodson suffering an injury, though. What's the point? He fumbled the ball sometimes as a Panther, doesn't mean I want to see him fail for the rest of his life.

Like I said before, you're petty and immature.

I'd like to think so. Coaches tend to have lower expectations for some players and we've heard these same quotes and situations with the Panthers. I lost count of how many times Everette Brown and Dwayne Jarrett were having great practices. Then there was that one QB who had a perfect deep ball, can't remember his name.

Also we remember how bad some of the practices were for the Panthers last year and how bad Cam Newton was in preseason.

My point is that it's still training camp. If Naane and Garrard are leading a top offense in the NFL come week 3 or 4, then let's offer some praise. Do it in the regular season.

Honestly dude, what do you want him to say?

"Hey coach how is naane looking?"

"its just training camp, next question."

Come on.

It's normal coach speak, you even said so yourself, you hear it all the time, every team does it, he didnt say Naane and Garrard are leading us to the superbowl, he put them on the depth chart.....the very first depth chart for the first preseason game. You are putting these quotes and depth charts on too high of pedistals. They are what they are (fox speak)

(The Jaguars post-Coughlin have been one of the worst franchises, and it's been so long since he was coaching there that it's irrelevant when talking about them the way they've been performing in recent history.)

(he also played remarkably well against the Pats the next week. Let's now review Matt Moore's playoff experience oh wait he doesn't have any)

(If he was talented enough to beat Henne out, perhaps their season would've gone better.)

(I don't know maybe because people didn't argue that Goodson was much better than he actually was, and blame his failures on his teammates and coaches every single time he blows it out there. Having said that what's the take on Moore not being able to wrangle a starting job from David Garrard by people who said we'd be better off starting him and passing on Cam?)

Well, David Garrard is injured now. I wish him a speedy recovery.

I'm sure this thread will now turn into bashing Moore as 'the guy who got to start because Garrard was injured'. Let the hate rain down. Moore was undrafted and has went from being a nobody from the Oregon Beavers to being a QB who has a respectable lifetime QB rating of over 80. Also he's earned a few million dollars along the way.

Will be interesting seeing if this gives Tannehill more motivation. Instead of being two spots back he's the guy who is one play away from getting into the game.

It's just as bad as people who nut hug on a guy who hasn't been a Panther in quite a while and never will be again.
