Matt Moore verging on losing his job to another rookie and/or black QB

Joe Philbin has praised Naane and has placed Richard Marshall ahead of Vontae Davis on the deph chart.

He clearly knows what he's talking about...

Also Moore never lost his job to Cam Newton. If you weren't aware, Matt Moore wasn't on the Panthers last season.

I wonder if the Jags want Moore?

I know they wouldn't dare ask to have Gerrard back since they dropped kicked him out the Jags door so they could have their next great superstar QB step in...Hmmmmm

That's a very discouraging sign for Gabbert if they'd hypothetically already be willing to put him back on the bench. I don't know of many first round QBs in recent years that were benched for poor performance, won their starting job back and turned into franchise guys.

From all accounts, players, fans, media alike, Naane is having a really good camp......and he praised him? So what?

Media thats covering the team also has talked about how out of shape and lazy Vontae Davis looks. If you watched hardknocks last night you'd see even more detail on that. He's a good corner, can be great....if he wants to be....and right now, hes not playing to his potential, so they have Richard Marshall starting in front of him right now. Happens often. Thomas Davis is in front of Kuechley on the first depth chart, does that mean anything? No.

So clearly, you KNOW what you're talking about I guess?

I'd like to think so. Coaches tend to have lower expectations for some players and we've heard these same quotes and situations with the Panthers. I lost count of how many times Everette Brown and Dwayne Jarrett were having great practices. Then there was that one QB who had a perfect deep ball, can't remember his name.

Also we remember how bad some of the practices were for the Panthers last year and how bad Cam Newton was in preseason.

My point is that it's still training camp. If Naane and Garrard are leading a top offense in the NFL come week 3 or 4, then let's offer some praise. Do it in the regular season.

Sylvianlight, are you really suggesting you need to see Garrard play well in the regular season for you to be convinced he's the best QB on the team?

He won a playoff game while starting for the Jaguars. That's about as remarkable an accomplishment as any QB leading a normal franchise to a Super Bowl berth.

The only time Moore's ever turned it up in his career is when his team's been just about eliminated from playoff contention, and obviously Tannehill isn't a QB talented enough to start week one as a rookie while he learns the game.

Look. Moore has been great when things don't matter. He won four out of the last five games of the 2009 season with the Panthers after Delhomme was injured. However, the season was over for the Panthers already. John Fox names him the starter in 2010, pretty much bets the season that he can continue his performance from 2009 and it was a disaster. He takes over for Chad Henne last season and plays great. But again, the season was already thrown away when he was put in. He can't be trusted to be a starter in this league. He makes for a great backup, one who could actually step in for some games if needed. But he can't carry a franchise.
