Top QBs: Last 16 years

There are no hostilities here. Just Facts.

Jake is our QB

Cantwell and will fight the loser of the # 2 spot between McCown and Moore.

Plain and Simple.

We aren't gonna draft a QB in the 1st round this year or next. I am sure in latter rounds we might but for now that is who we have.

No need in beating a dead horse :beatdeadhorse5: over the whining and crying over a drafted QB. NOT GONNA HAPPEN

So critiquing and analyzing=whining and crying?

...but just ignoring the subject altogether is the mark of a true fan isn't it?

I don't think it has to do with ignoring the subject, setting the bar low, looking at the glass half full, or any of that. To me, some people want to look backwards and whine about every little thing that went wrong. Last season is over, nothing we can do about it now.

I'd rather look to the future, and there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about our chances.

Rage...where have you been? The Jake vs the non-Jakes have not been getting along too well for the last two days. Someone randomly brings up the QB situation and then all the :boxing_smiley: begins all over again.

Okay, now I took some time to tally all those #s up. The grand total, without counting heads more than once, comes up to 71 QBs you just saw over that whole list. And the breakdown, by round, goes something like this...

Round 1. 25 35.2%

Round 2. 6 8.4%

Round 3. 8 11.2%

Round 4. 7 9.8%

Round 5. 2 2.8%

Round 6. 5 7%

Round 7. 1 1.4%

Round 8. 2 2.8%

Round 9. 2 2.8%

Round 10. 0 0%

Round 11. 1 1.4%

Round 12. 0 0%

Undrafted. 4 5.6%

Undrafted*.8 11.2%

*: Players with alternate experience (CFL, USFL, NFL Europe)

Now keep in mind, what ever is blue is now a dead demographic in today's NFL. Which leaves you with 7 rounds and just undrafted free agents.

just let that simmer in your head for a minute.

That's pretty telling. Add those round 8-12 guys to the UDFA list with today's draft, as well as the UDFA's you listed separately because of alternate experiance, you get...

23.8% as UDFAs

And only 35.2% for first rounders?? Wow. Let's start scouting those Canadians :D

the UDFAs with alternate experience wouldn't count today because you don't have a USFL or NFL Europe. So subtract that 8 figure and your % looks like this....

12.7%

not 23%

How do you just subtract those people? They're going to go somewhere. The CFL is still there, and actually expanding, plus we have arena football.

Arena Football?

Who on my list has made it all the way from arena football?

Take away the USFL and NFLE and Jake and Kurt probably wouldn't be as good as they are today, ....they might not have even made it. NFLE provided the medium between College ball and NFL that they needed in order to develop as players.

as for the low pctg of 1st rounders, consistency has something to do with it. A lot of these UDFAs only showed up once on the chart compared to their, dare I say it, more talented counterparts, who've shown up 3, 4, 5 times and even more.

I am all for critiquing and analyzing but there isn't any of that, It is the same subject since we lost in the playoffs. Jake Sux, we need a new QB. Blah blah blah. It is CRITICIZING not Critiquing big difference.

You can word it anyway you want. Instead of trying to replace him why don't we CRITIQUE his faults. Maybe Tunnelvision or poor mechanics. What our new QB coach will do for him to make him better. Because no matter what you think or I think. He is our starting QB.

But you can try and change the colors of a Zebra but the bottom line it still is black and white.

Here's part of the reason I used the passing yards column as a control. Ray Lucas' 1999 season:

9 9 161 272 59.2 1,678 6.2 14 6 11 69 85.1

...he only shows up once.

Damon Huard's 2006 season

10 8 148 244 60.7 1,878 7.7 11 1 16 106 98.0

...he only shows up once as well.

If they started the entire season, it's probably more yards, but a much much lower QB rating as well.

Most of the guys are from NFLE because that's where the better non-signed players went. Now they will go to the CFL or Arena instead. You're really only pushing out the bottom of the barrel guys, and should only effect these percentages marginally, if at all. The guys that actually have a shot at making it to the NFL eventually should still find places to play and develop.
