Godfrey "Secondary Will Be Better"

Recommended Posts

I really like Gamble, the guy is a professional and does his job and does it well. He is the only single secondary player who can cover a WR over 6 feet. He is underrated, probably because he is overpaid. But in a sense, he isn't. Without Gamble this defense would not last a second against a team with a WR worth a poo.

That said, the Panthers deserpatley need a #2 and a little later a future #1 to emerge. As of now if Gamble goes who is going to cover #1s? Captain?...Lol

overpaid?

amazing how ma.y fans have no concept of value for top.players in the nfl.

agree with it or not, it's not difficult to understand.

I love the direction of this team.

Can you veil your pessimism any better?

Most of us know you are not happy with the present situation. That certain things could have worked out better in the long wrong run.

But the "I love the direction of this team" is just too damm simplistic. Have you given up? Have you joined the bandwagon? Does this mean DWill can stay? There has to be a "but" in there some where.

I know you are well aware of what we can be. Everyone is cognizant of your beliefs. But just once, can't you just be happy for what we are? Second year of the Rivera reign, and already talking Super Bowl. Can't we be content with that? We are on the ground floor of amazing, and I am soooo glad to be where I am sitting. Wish you could join me.

I can feel it, you want to join us. Let the optimism flow. And GOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

C'mon Billy. The draft and FA? Are you that frightened? Have you no faith in Hogan, or Butler, or that Norman kid? Hey, what about Stafford? Outside of Pantherz camp, no one even knows who these guys are. Yet I am asking you to believe that somehow, for some strange reason, these guys are all of a sudden the answer. What say you? Why Not?

Normally I could agree with your skeptisism. But there is just something in the air that will not let me let go. Under normal curcustances I may shrug this off as a flashback, or hallucination, but this year, not going to happen. There is a sense of urgency, of goals unfulfilled if you will, that I just cannot deny.

Martin is a big reason for my optimism. My belief that he has merged talent and potential into a solid safety. I have heard nothing but good things, and that makes my giddy happy. Cuz I know Rivera loves his LBs and S. And we are flush with both. Maybe not top shelf. but more than adequate for our needs.

If the secondary is where your worries lie. Lay them to rest, because we are better than last year, and I believe, better than we have been is a long while.

I love the present situation. Not my fault people blow a gasket over 2 or 3 things I think could be better. As I have repeatedly said, many here only choose to acknowledge the negatives I point out.

Teams can't change overnight. Not possible. Carolina took a big step last in the direction I love. I expect that to continue. I happen to think we continue to move away from several Fox fingerprints that still exist around here....some can't handle that thought

My expectations are very tempered for the secondary this year. I'm far from convinced Munnerlyn is a starting-caliber corner in this league.

Yea I agree, They can be better by cutting down the mistakes but feel we are missing talent as well.We are hanging our hat on an injured 5th round draft pick at the moment.

Why is that amazing? What the fug does fans have to do with nfl player contracts and value? There are vets who preform on Gamble's level who make much less, older yes, no future yes but preformance wise comparable.

What is amazing is how every single one of your posts are always condecending as if you are compensating or extremeley insecure. I bet you fight a lot with people who don't agree with you, not healthy man, it's ok.

Who?

Impossible to prove because 'level' has many definitions to people.

Define it and go back in history and you can find them. Could be just me getting older and contracts getting bigger. New cap rules will also play a role.

"Go back in history"......yep there's your problem. According to multiple stats and sites, Gamble was the 2nd best corner in all of the NFL last year. Yes Gamble makes more than Deion Sanders did, but contracts go up each year. Gamble is getting paid a very reasonable contract, considering his production, when compared to other top corners in the league.
