WEEK 5: PANTHERS 45, SEAHAWKS 14

SUMMARY: The game was never really a contest, with the Panthers offense moving up and down the field seemingly at will. The Seahawks were forced to abandon the running game after falling behind early, but Matt Flynn didn't do much short of a meaningless 3rd quarter TD to Golden Tate. The score pretty much tells the story here.

WEEK 7: COWBOYS 30, PANTHERS 24 (O.T.)

SUMMARY: Coming off their bye week, the Panthers took an early 14-0 lead with a Cam Newton TD pass to Brandon LaFell, who returned this game after being injured in the season opener, and a Jonathan Stewart TD run. The Cowboys defense largely shut down the Panthers run game, though, and Newton was forced to throw more than usual. He played well, throwing for 306 yards and a TD without an interception. He also ran for a TD in the 4th quarter to give the Panthers a 24-17 lead after Dallas came back with back to back TD's on the final drive of the first half and opening drive of the 2nd half and later a field goal in the 3rd quarter. Tony Romo drove the Cowboys for a game-tying score to Dez Bryant with 0:07 left in regulation. Dallas won the coin toss and Romo hit Miles Austin on the winning TD from 46 yards out thanks to a missed Darius Butler tackle.

WEEK 8: PANTHERS 24, BEARS 21

SUMMARY: The Panthers got off to a good start, scoring on their first three possessions to take a 21-0 lead that became a 21-10 lead at halftime as Jay Cutler hooked up with Brandon Marshall inside of 2:00. In the 2nd half, the Bears defense came alive and the Panthers offense was largely shut down. It didn't help that Jonathan Stewart was injured on the first play of the 3rd quarter and missed the rest of the game. The Panthers managed just a field goal in the 2nd half, but it wound up being enough - though just barely. After managing only a field goal in the 3rd quarter, Cutler found rookie Alshon Jeffrey wide open on a big play to give the Bears 1st & goal at the 5 and then hit Marshall on a TD pass and 2-point conversion to cut the Panthers lead to 24-21 with 2:53 left. The Panthers managed to run out the clock, with the Bears defense failing to stop DeAngelo Williams at the 2:00 warning and later couldn't keep Mike Tolbert from picking up the key first down that allowed the Panthers to kneel the game out.
