Carolina Panthers 2012 Schedule: Breaking down the first half.

Week 1: at Tampa Bay: Last year the Carolina Panthers swept the Buccaneers in dramatic fashion. Don't expect this game to be any different. Sure, Tampa Bay made a few good moves in free agency but i don't expect to hear "Freeman to Jackson" too often in the season opener. It's going to take some time for this team to get rolling.

Prediction: Carolina 34, Tampa Bay 20

Record: 1-0

Week 2: vs New Orleans: Nobody has loved what went down in the "Big Easy" this offseason as much as us Carolina Panther fans. The Saints** have dominated us the past couple years but this year looks to be much more competitive without Sean Payton commanding the sidelines. However with all the troubles, you can never overlook Drew Brees. This is going to be a close one but look for the Panthers to shock an already distressed fan base.

Prediction: Carolina 31, New Orleans 28

Record: 2-0

Week 3: vs New York Giants: The Panthers really have a chance to make a statement with the Super Bowl champions coming to Bank of America Stadium on this Thursday night. The Giants aren't notoriously known for playing well in the first half of the season. Carolina is going to prove to America that they aren't all talk. Look for our young defense to step up and stop a last-minute drive by Eli and company.

Prediction: Carolina 21, New York 17

Record: 3-0

Week 4: at Atlanta: Like the Saints**, the Falcons have had the upper hand the past couple seasons. The only difference is Atlanta hasn't had all the offseason troubles. Cam Newton struggled specifically against Atlanta last season. He knows that as well and has been working on it all offseason. Carolina will have 10 days to get ready for this one with a Thursday night game the week before. I think Carolina finally prevails and snaps a 4 game losing streak against Atlanta.

Prediction: Carolina 27, Atlanta 24

Record: 4-0

Week 5: vs Seattle: A better question than who will win this game is who will be Seattle's starting QB? I would like to see Russell Wilson get some playing time although it looks like they're leaning towards Matt Flynn. But what about that guy who started for them last year? My head hurts.

Prediction: Carolina 28, Seattle 10

Record: 5-0

Week 7: vs Dallas: Last year coming off a bye week, we lost 30-3. This year we are playing a better team and Dallas usually plays their best ball around this time of the year. I think Dallas kicks a late field goal and steals this one in a thriller. Plus, I'm going to this game and Carolina has lost every game I've been to.

Prediction: Dallas 20, Carolina 17

Record: 5-1

Week 8: at Chicago: While Rivera would love to beat his former team, I just don't see it happening. Soldier Field is always a tough place to play and Jay Cutler should be in top form at this point of the season. Matt Forte will continue his dominion against the Panthers and Julius Peppers will move to 3-0 against his former team.

Prediction: Chicago 34, Carolina 21

Record: 5-2

Week 9: vs Washington Redskins: This should be one of the funnest games to watch this year. RG3 is one of the most hyped QBs to come out in a while and has drawn a lot of comparisons to Cam Newton. While he has a decent rookie season, his play is nothing like that of Cam's and he loses a disaster in Charlotte.

Prediction: Carolina 41, Washington 21

Record: 6-2

This is something I started a while back but haven’t had the time to finish it. Let me what you guys think and if I should do the final 8 games. Thanks

yeah do the final 8 games.. you just never know what can happen throughout the course of a game. i could see us beingg 4-4, but i could also see us being 8-0.. i think 6-2 is more realisticly what we should be around that time with the improved play of special teams and defense

Week 1: at Tampa Bay: Last year the Carolina Panthers swept the Buccaneers in dramatic fashion. Don't expect that to happen this season. Tampa Bay made a few good moves in free agency I expect to hear "Freeman to Jackson" very often in the season opener. Also with Martin in the back field and the new nonsense coach Tampa going to be a sleeper.

Prediction: Carolina 24, Tampa Bay 26

Record: 0-1

Week 2: vs New Orleans: Nobody has loved what went down in the "Big Easy" this off season as much as us Carolina Panther fans. The Saints*** have dominated us the past couple years no different this year. However with all the troubles, you can never overlook Drew Brees. This is going to be a runway.

Prediction: Carolina 14, New Orleans 42

Record: 0-2

Week 3: vs New York Giants: Super Bowl champions all need to be said.

Prediction: Carolina 10, New York 24

Record: 0-3

Week 4: at Atlanta: Like the Saints***, the Falcons have had the upper hand the past couple seasons. Cam Newton struggled specifically against Atlanta last season. He knows that as well and will struggle again. Carolina will have 10 days to get ready for this one with a Thursday night game the week before. Another lose.

Prediction: Carolina 17, Atlanta 24

Record: 0-4

Week 5: vs Seattle: A better question than who will win this game is who will be Seattle's starting QB? I would like to see Russell Wilson get some playing time although it looks like they're leaning towards Matt Flynn. But what about that guy who started for them last year? My head hurts. First win for the Panthers if Russell Wilson is not the starter.

Prediction: Carolina 28, Seattle 13

Record: 1-4

Week 7: vs Dallas: Last year coming off a bye week, we lost 30-3. This year we are playing a better team and Dallas usually plays their best ball around this time of the year. Dallas in a rout.

Prediction: Dallas 35, Carolina 17

Record: 1-5

Week 8: at Chicago: While Rivera would love to beat his former team, I just don't see it happening. Soldier Field is always a tough place to play and Jay Cutler should be in top form at this point of the season. Matt Forte will continue his dominion against the Panthers and Julius Peppers will move to 3-0 against his former team. Agree!

Prediction: Chicago 34, Carolina 17

Record: 1-6

Week 9: vs Washington Redskins: This should be one of the exciting games to watch this year. RG3 is one of the top QBs to come out in a while and has drawn a lot of comparisons to Cam Newton. RG3 is actually a better passer than Cam look for a close one.

Prediction: Carolina 24, Washington 21

Record: 2-6

No shock and awe from Cam this season and the defense is still a ? mark!

Cam will not surprise anyone and the defense is still a ? mark!

I don't get the Cam wont surprise anyone argument. Eli Manning isn't surprising anyone. Neither is Rodgers, Brady or Brees. How can they consistently complete passes and have success in this league if all of those teams have game film? If we follow the 'surprise" logic Quarterbacks would peak the first year as a starter and get suckier as game film is amassed.

I'm seeing a 4-4 at the midway point being as optimistic as possible 5-3 would be my limit. I think Atlanta and New Orleans get us. Either Dallas or NY Giants but not both

Strong division we lose to Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants! :(

This was something I post of in another thread yesterday. Just wanted to put it in here. Just a quickie.

In the NFCSOUTH, I see us winning both TB games, and splitting each vs the Falcons and Saints*. That's 4-2 record in our division.

NFC EAST:

(W) Washington, NYG (L) Philly, Dallas

AFC WEST SWEEP:

(W) Denver, Oakland, KC, SD

(W) Seattle (L) Chicago

2012 Regular Season Record: 11-5

NFC EAST:

Washington: RG3 is a Rook and the Skins has no true running game. Defense looks good on paper but its mediocre on the field. They also loss their best player in the secondary in Laron Landry. Game will force RG3 to win it by his arm and thats not going to happen.

NYG: Its a Thursday night game on our field where the momentum will be on our side bc the HYPE will be so high in trying to upset the Super Bowl Champs. No running game yet with the Giants and I dont see no way that Front Seven of the Giants will be able to contain or stop Cam. Remember this the the Regular Season Giants, not Playoffs Giants.

Philly: A close game but I see the Eagles squeezing out of this one. Desean Jackson and Maclin will be too much for our secondary. And this is a team with "Lesean McCoy", a RB.

Dallas: Could go either way, a "W" or a "L". Dez and Austin is too much, and their Defense will be too much.

AFC WEST: (Big Sweep)

Denver: Foxy is back in town. NO RUNNING GAME! We will beat Manning.

Oakland: An under-performed Carson Palmer with no true WRs, and a new coaching staff.

SD: NO RUNNING GAME, and mediocre defense. Chico and Chud knows this team inside out.

KC: Great defense but no QB play.

(RR and Chud knows this Division well)

Chicago: Remember Forte? yes thats a "Running Game". Defense is old, but Brandon Marshall and Yes!, Alshon Jeffery will be a handful for our secondary.

Seattle: Easy win. Whos playing QB? Tarvaris? Flynn? or Russell? Who cares.

As you can see, all losses will be bc the other team has a "running game".

    • It didn’t feel like we’re the Bills bc we’re not a consistent conference contender yet we’re a rebuilding team. But with the game on the line we played just like the Bills went straight down the field and scored a tuddy then converted a 2pt conversion I have to give credit where credit is due. And the chiefs played us like we were the Bills in an AFC championship game, drive down the field and kicked a walk off FG to win at the end very similar to me. Are saying our defense stunk yesterday? Vs an elite offense team with elite coaching an elite QB man idk what you want them to do. KC does these things to the best defenses in the league consistently to win AFC chips and Super Bowls let’s not devalue who they are. I saw us play KC to the wire and barely lose defense did its thing as much as it could. Bingo!!! We’re also forgetting how injured we’ve been defensively this year, yes we need to build up the D but adding a few pieces and D Browns successful rehab should make us a very strong unit again. Couple that with the offense we saw yesterday and we’re winning our division.
    • Canales deserves a lot of credit. I'm very pleased. He's definitely making strides with Bryce. I also think some of his lack of commitment to Bryce as the starter is to motivate Bryce. I think he liked what he saw when Bryce was benched.  Even the Defense looks tremendously better with just a couple more pieces getting healthy. Wonnum has made our pass rush viable again.  I would love to see this team with one more good player across the defensive front, DT or an edge rusher.
    • I didn’t see any limitations yesterday
