Louis Murphy

Murphy will probably end up being the no.2 at some point. I'd be happy if whoever the no.2 is can puts up 800 yds and 5+ tds.

Unless either Murphy or Lafell have a booming season, I see us drafting a high WR next year or going after a too tier WR like Bowe. Bc Smitty will be closer to the end and still no true no.2.

this is a great fuging problem to have.

no kidding.

what we are looking at, esp. when gettis gets back, is the best receiving corps this franchise has ever had to go along with the most talented QB this franchise has ever had to go along with the best runningback corps this franchise has ever had.

makes me happy happy happy.

not to nit pick or just be argumentative but if you are strictly going by wide receivers I'd give every single one of those guys not named Smith for Muhammad circa 93/94 .... Proehl would just be the icing on the cake

Smitty is our superstar, Murphy is another fast deep threat for us to take pressure off Smitty, LaFell is our clutch receiver who will make defenses pay dearly for ignoring him. Past those three we really don't completely know what we have. Gettis is on pup and we don't know when he will be back or if he will be as good as he was before (If so this WR Corps will be absurdly stacked), Pilares apparently has been having a nice camp and I hope he turns out to be a really good receiver for us, though he needs to prove it on the field whenever he happens to get out there. Adams is an unknown on offense, we won't know how he turns out until we see it on the field, though with his elite speed he could be very good if he sticks close to 89 and learns everything he possibly can from him. Tutu I've been hearing one guy say he's sucking and another saying he's pushing for #2 so I don't know what to think about him at this point, though I hope the latter is correct. Jared Green has shown some very good flashes for a UDFA. As far as I know, past that are rooks who are as a whole unimpressive compared to the ones I just listed. Someone out of this group is going to have to go. I believe Jared Green gets the PS and if someone gets injured knock on wood he could have an opportunity to get in a uniform and show what he's got. We're not going to keep 7 WR's, someone's going to get the axe.

Surprised everybody is this high on Murphy. I don't see him getting anywhere near the #2, and wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't make the team. He doesn't contribute on special teams, isn't a fluid route runner, and isn't consistent catching the ball. Not that he's terrible, just don't know that he brings a lot that we don't already have. Smitty doesn't play ST anymore, and LaFell, who Rivera said today had "a strong hold" on the #2 spot, doesn't play special teams either. That makes it tough for a guy that doesn't return or cover kicks. Even if they keep another guy just for WR, Murphy would have to beat out Gettis and Tutu, who Rivera is familiar with from SD.

i think lafell will end up being about as good as muhammad.

i think there is a lot of talent in these guys and i'm really not worried about the future of the position either. lafell has done a lot to prove himself as a very solid receiver and downfield blocker. he's as tough as you would want a WR to be. we all saw what gettis was capable of with a much less talented QB throwing to him and most of us have also seen what murphy is capable of in oakland and getting a taste of what it could be with cam. add to that the potential threat in a guy like adams and then throw olsen in there and you have a very deep and talented WR corps that should be able to stand up to any secondary and pass defense. the system and QB we have here will also help make them, as a group, be more productive than any WR corps we have ever had.

yeah, it would be great to have muhammad in his prime with smith in his and proehl in his, but that ain't happening.

Im trying to be cautious with the new guy too. 41 catches sounds nice but I havnt seen them so Idk, he could still have hands of brick syndrome. .and no one likes hands of brick syndrome. . .its almost as bad as that one lineman in training camp that had squirts in yer pants syndrome.

It was a conern with Dat Deal too when he came in, same with Gettis, same with Pilares, and now same with Adams and Murphy. Still, it just hasnt been an issue under Graves. They all look the ball in and track pretty damn well or improve in those areas over their time here. If he does happen to be weak in the dropsy area, I feel comfortable in saying that at least it may not take long for him to get better.

thats why he's playing wr in the NFL and you're here typing about it.

he has the abilities to make cuts like that. you have abilities to type about it

Actually he's playing in the NFL because he wants to and I don't. You speak as if it's an either/or kind of think...that EVERYONE has tried to make it to the NFL, and some succeeded and all others failed.

I don't give a crap about why he's there, nor do I care what you think about what I think about it.

The guy's legs are RETARDED, and PAINFULLY SO, and no, I do not use that word liberally.

Everybody's knees have a certain level of lateral flexibility. It's not his fault that you are a stiff legged motherfuger.

No, my legs are just normal. Tone enough to turn women on...been told as much.

This guy's legs bend this way (^) and this way (<) at the knee. That is the DUMBEST thing I have ever seen. I guarantee you it's going to break one day.
