Adam Schein's Preseason Myths (Myth = Panthers are Good)

Recommended Posts

Honestly, I don't care if people don't think we'll do great, I'm used to that. But to sit here and tell me that THE BUCS will be better than us is beyond asinine. There is absolutely no evidence beyond some FA acquisitions and they've done nothing to show they'll be contenders just like we didn't after the 2010 season. Why is it that when we have a bottom of the barrel season we're expected to repeat that but a crotch stain team like the buc's will immediately bounce back, and no less than ahead of a team that's getting all their poo together in a big way?

Can't wait to win a SB so this backwards logic will no longer be applied to us.

No one supports an idea until they see it happen. it is always easier to use whatever has happend in the recent future and use that as a prediction bc why actually learn about a team, watch their games and see that Carolina had at least 4 victories that they lost with one to three plays that could have easily swung the other way.

Never mind they were against the Packers, Falcons, Saints*(gm1), Cardinals. Mostly elite teams.

One third down stop and Mare not having his Ballz shrink in a clutch moment could have made last season a 10-11 win team.

But we know this..

These predictions are made to get a rise out of people. Some of the so-called experts seem to be a little more in-tune than morons like Adam Schein, but

Here is the one from Sports Illustrated from 2003. It's hard to remember, but print media was still big 9 years ago, and Sports Ilustrated was probably at the time the most respected of the bunch.

In fairness to SI, the NFCS had the defending SB champs in TB, an ATL team with Mike Vick (who was the "it" guy in the NFL). Remeber the "Michael Vick Experience" commercials?

The Panthers will make the Playoffs if...

thers will make the playoffs because...

They leave the NFC South and accept John Swofford's invitation to become the ACC's 12th team, citing academic reasons and a promise for basketball tournament tickets. They hold off Miami in the ACC Championship Game and advance to the Orange Bowl.

The Panthers won't make the Playoffs if...

>> Panthers will not make the playoffs because...

Still a long way to go on offense, they haven't officially nailed down the starting QB yet and … oh yeah, the Bucs, Saints** and Falcons. Carolina is improving, but it's tough being fourth in a four-dog pack.

So ultimately, who knows? I am excited about the season but I honestly believe the Panthers could win the NFCS or finish last. I think the Panthers could end up anywhere bring 6-10 to 10-6. Looking at the schedule, there are no cupcakes, but there are no games where I feel like they can't win either.

The NFCS has 4 quality teams, Having Newton gives me a lot of optimism, and I do believe the Panthers will win a Super Bowl at some point with Newton. There are still too many unknowns about the defense right now to know how well the team is going to do.

I only point Schein makes I agree with is about Tampa. They have made some good upgrades, and they weren't as bad as they seemed at the end of last year when they quit. At the same time, I don't fear Atlanta at all (I personally think they have a better chance of winning 8 games than 12), and New Orleans is still going to be good but not the elite team they have been the last 3 years.

I think our defense is going to shock the hell out of people this year.

Reasons:

1. The Beast is back.

2. RR will be more involved, and he's shown he can coach top defenses.

3. 2nd year in the system.

4. LBs, which are at the core of this defense, will be a strength rather than a liability this year.

5. D-Line is improved with the rookies getting experience and Ron Edwards returning

6. They have something to prove.

I'm still a bit concerned about our secondary, but we're going to see a better lead, more motivated, and more talented defense this year. I don't think they'll be top 5, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were top 15 or even top 10.

His reasoning is very poor, he points out the negatives in the other teams then goes on to say that they are still better than us?

I don't think that's how it works Adam.

Yeah his reasoning is very poor. I don't mind him saying we won't win the Super Bowl or even make the playoffs but to say Tampa will be better because their culture has changed with a college coach. Ours hasn't?

LOL at people getting MAD. My god. Laugh off his opinion at least.

If he gets you mad and get's a response....any response he has succeeded in doing his job. People will never grasp this. There is only one reason for any sort of broadcast or publication....to sell advertising.

Call in, email him...explain to him why you think he is wrong but becoming angry about something so insignificant isn't worth it.

People still listen to Sirius Radio? After the merger with XM I couldn't take the short play lists and gave that crap up. I figure I can piss away $14 per month on something more entertaining. That dude Adam is a chode anyway and was always the worst part of the day for Sirius NFL Radio.

I think they can beat out Tampa for 3rd place but the Bucs will be much better than last seasons team. Just to many new faces and coaches for them to jell properly and make a big jump. I really don't see how anyone can pick Carolina over the Saints* and Falcons. They are just better teams from top to bottom who know how to win. Barring injuries to their quaterbacks i see them as the only playoff caliber teams in the NFC South.

The difference between you and I in evaluating teams is that I think coaching makes a huge difference. I don't think Atlanta can be better from top to bottom when at the top they have 2 new coordinators bringing in new philosophies. It will take players time to get on the same page. I think Ryan was better than what we had in the last few years but I think Cam will be better this year. I also think we will have a better offense and defense.

As for New Orleans, their offensive playcaller was Payton. He set up the game plan and executed it. Brees may be the quarterback but he can't coach as well. The offense will have a big slide this year and the defense has never been that great and will be worse this year.

So no I don't think Atlanta nor New Orleans will be better than us this year. Your problem is that you just don't want the Panthers to succeed while the redskins are at the bottom in their division.

I actually hope the Panthers do succeed and i pulled for them to win the Superbowl against New England. I really don't see how you can say Rivera is a better coach than Smith. Smith has done a good job over the years in Atlanta 44 and 24 i believe. He hasn't won a playoff game but every team they faced in the playoffs went on to play in the Superbowl. Mike Nolan is a excellent defensive coach. I believe he is a major upgrade over what they had last season.

I'll give you the Saints** and their coaching troubles but as with Manning a great quarterback makes all the difference in the world. Like him or not, Brees is great and he will win football games and there offense will roll.
