As much as I hate to say it... maybe this is our DeAngelo replacement. Keeping two starting caliber RBs will be difficult, and with Stewart being the bruiser the Panthers have always seemed to prefer, maybe the FO is planning on letting DeAngelo walk at the end of his rookie contract (crazy, I know). Stewart would then be our starter and Goodson would have gotten the chance to beef up a bit and be his shifty backup.

DeAngelo's replacement?? Seriously dude.

RB depth is so important in this league - example Broncos last season.

Its the Giants depth at RB with Jaccobs,Bradshaw and Ward that ran over our tired defense in the OT win last year.

The odds of both our RB'S going the whole year without missing any time at all would be a miracle. Goodman has mad skills and no doubt get him on the field...but DeAngelo's replacement??!!:nono:

lol we're not converting him to WR full-time so you can get that pipe dream out of your head. He said he wants to play RB and while he doesn't mind playing WR, he also doesn't want to be converted totally to WR. Maybe he's being delusional now, but I'd be willing to bet if we tried that he'd be out of here faster than you can say "Wow Mike Goodson sure is fast."

Also the guy who said he might be replacing Deangelo in a couple of years might be right. Keep in mind, Deangelo will be 28 after the final year of his rookie contract runs out. I don't see us paying big to keep him here, especially with a 24 year old Stewart and 24 year old Goodson (maybe hopefully he proves he can be a reggie-bush type back for us, and can stay healthy?) in the wings.

4th round pick, guys. Let's not ******* ourselves. He was passed on 110 times. And yes, before the list of players is rolled out that was drafted in the 4th or later and are now stars, compare that list to the ones that didn't make it.

At this time the year after Ryne Robinson was drafted, people made the same leap to calling him Steve Smith Jr. and here we are years later and he's in competition for a KR spot.

Eric Shelton the next Stephen Davis ring any bells?

How about we see some actual promise from the kid before we start throwing around names of players that are actually .... you know.... good football players.

I don't recall anyone saying that about Robinson when he was drafted. People didn't start drinking the Panther Kool-Aid in regards to Robinson until Steve Smith gave him an endorsement.....then he went from a bad return man to a guy with AMAZING potential.

i love d-lo and think he is finally getting the respect he has deserved being behind foster. i do wonder with stewart being so young and the drafting of a couple running backs this year if the panthers front office is kicking the tires on a possible replacement like others have posted. the knock on him when he was drafted was how much mileage he put on at memphis including a rushing record. couple that with the fact that he will be 28 and arguably coming off back-to-back top 5 rushing seasons, he will be looking for a payday. this is a business and perhaps carolina is looking at the big picture as to whether they can carry two big paid rb's. i would prefer to have a 3 headed backfield like the giants, but i wonder if it's fiscally possible.

I'm not sure about Goodson. He looks like he has a wide variety of skills but dosen't have the top end speed. I did notice during the mini camps he seems a little lazy. I was watching him during warm ups (team stretches and running) and he seemed a little out of it. He seemed to just be going through the motions.

I would expect a guy coming in and competing for a roster spot to look a little more motivated in his first practice. I hope I'm wrong and to his credit he did look to work hard once practice began.

Then you have a terrible memory. I recall more than one poster here comparing him to Steve Smith almost immediately after he was drafted. Because he was short, fast, had potential, but would probably be used for return duties the first couple of years he's here.

I recall that. "short but fast collegiate star punt returner drafted in the middle rounds--they said he probably won't make it at WR... lol guys remind you of anyone??!?!!!11one"

Or here is a thought folks, why don't we wait and see how they perform before being so judgmental. I hate it when people ride off someone without giving them an opportunity to shine.

Another thing, if he doesn't perform right away, don't give up on the guy after ONE season in the league. It takes time to develop a player... LET HIM DEVELOP

That's why I compared him to Goings. He actually is fast compared to him, and he has similar, "jack of all trades" type skills. I wouldn't worry too much that he didn't seem to be motivated about stretching and warming up, because that part of it is pretty boring for anybody. As long as he's switched on when the coaches start teaching, then he should be fine.

Lets see what he does preseason wise. If he's beasting, then we have a situation on our hands

Far as the comment about him passing Ryne, idk about that. Fox is a loyal guy. People just throw Ryne to the wolves because he was injured. But forget he was gettin notice in camp before the injury
