One thing you need to understand RE: Camp

The defensive and offensive lines are not going at it 100%.

Even in the mini scrimmages, they are not giving full effort. So any conclusions you think you have drawn on their performances are incomplete.

So before you start having an opinion either way of how our lines are doing, you may want to take a deep breath and wait until the preseason.

So that people can say in the preseason that it's only preseason and you should wait until 8 weeks into the regular season?

Well, in a way they are right in regards to the outcome of the game.

But as far as individual assessment of the offensive and defensive line players, preseason is where its at.

I agree completely.

My comment was more a jab at those who will ignore every valid criticism in the preseason because it's easier to say it's preseason and pretend everything's fine.

Offense struggled in the preseason last year....so argued the emphasis was on situational and specifics and not just trying to simply score.

Turned out to be accurate as the offense overall had no issues when the season started

Thank you but I, prefer to wallow in ignorance, hastily develop conclusions and make snap judgements based on biased, and limited information.

I think you have to separate the guys who aren't going 100% and may not even do so in the preseason because they are established veterans like Gross and Kalil versus guys who are fighting tooth and nail for a roster spot. Guys who may not even make it through the preseason can't wait until the season starts to start showing their ability.

i think there is a justifiable double standard there. the established vets don't have to prove really anything. all they have to do is learn the playbook and show they get it. newer guys fighting for a spot have to show that they understand the playbook and play as mistake free as possible. even at that, tho, i believe that the more important thing is just showing that they understand and can take what they learn in the classroom to the field. the guys who get it may not look as dynamic as some that aren't grasping the playbook, but they will probably be the guys that get the roster spot and the guys that we scratch our head at after watching them and just can't figure out how they got a spot while taye biddle didn't.

This. Established veterans use camp to get in game shape, but take it easy to go into the season healthy. If you're fighting for a roster spot or trying to challenge for a starting spot, you better be busting your ass.
