Thomas Davis should be used elsewhere

It makes sense because as a linebacker he has a much higher chance of tearing his knee up again, whereas on ST he still has a chance but a lower chance.

I should have said this before but I deff think we should have cut him this offseason. Hurney has a problem of holding on to players too long (Dan Morgan). I thought we would stop when Fox left but guess not.

So back to out argument....Would I rather have him play 16 games at ST or 4 games at LB...you know my answer.

I rather use him as a situational player. That, he has a better chance of playing 16 gms.

16 ST? Kidding. He'd be gone in your 4 games.

It's more like this: 16 gms situational player or 4 gms ST.

What if he beats out Anderson....If he's stays healthy I think thats possible. He is more athletic than him and quicker. I know people are worried about his speed declining after three surgeries but, if I recall correctly he ran a low forty time post his first tear. That is the injury that will MOST impact his speed and athleticism, the other two not so much ( I have a Physical Therapist in my family). That said, barring injury I think he can me more than a situational player. I'm actually more worried about Beason injury and how much speed he's going to lose. Just my opinion though. Here's to being an optimist

Glad you brought up Beason...bc achilles injuries are much worse but from what I have heard, his was more on the mild side which is why he is closer to 100% than he would be if it was a FULL tear.

Of course I do! Which is why I am saying it should be Davis on it; not Armanti Edwards.

Because that's totally the best way to save his knee, right? I understand what you're trying to say but you're assuming Davis is damaged goods and so we should throw him to the wolves rather than waste our time.

If RR, Hurney, TDavis or anyone wants Davis to have a chance of making a come back, he better be a situational player. Don't even wanna talk yet about him beating out Anderson. I think we all know who's the starting three are already.

I was not aware it was a partial tear. But yeah, a full rupture is probably the most devastating injury for an athlete!

It also depends on where the tear occurred. The tendon actually starts at the ankle and goes almost to the knee (backside). So location is crucial.!

For those interested, special teams stats of 2011 (by the way Thomas Davis hasn't played on special teams since 2007).

Kenny Onatolu: 15 tackles

Jason Williams: 15 tackles

Haruki Nakamura: 13 tackles

Mike Tolbert: 12 tackles

Jordan Senn: 11 tackles

Do you have Davis's number when he played as rookie?

Actually we don't know he the starting three are. As RR said the only position with no competition is long snapper. That being said, I understand your point of view. May the best man win.

I don't think Davis came back from a third surgery to be a special teams player.
