Some Training Camp Notes 7/30

Recommended Posts

My first practice of the year:

Tolbert looks like a tank out there. Had a few really nice runs. I only saw him get bottled up once and even then it was about 5 yards down field.

Ajirotutu had a few nice catches. All of them were in the short to intermediate range.

Cam looked like Cam; including a couple overthrown balls. One was to Olsen that would've gone for about 30 yards.

D-Will and Stewart both looked good running but like others have said, there wasn't a much contact for a full padded practice.

Darrell Green's big TD catch that was tweeted about ad nauseum was a seriously blown coverage by a safety. Looked like Godfrey but can't be sure (had a fat girl standing in front of me yelling at her kid to sit down and shut up most of the time).

Barnidge had some nice catches. Lots of pre snap motion with him.

There was a lot of linebacker blitzing this practice. Keuchly got around the edge clean on one play that would've been a knockdown at least.

Speaker of Keuchly, he's got great instincts and he was taking a lot of coaching during the individual drills. You could tell he was getting it. Each rep was better than the last.

Didn't see much out of the secondary. Norman didn't do anyting to stand out to me (not sure how early he got hurt). Captain got abused quite a few times. Murphy got him twice in three plays.

Overall, the offense was owning the defense. Hopefully as they get used to being back in pads the defense will start stepping up.

Got some great pictures of the guys walking down to practice. I'll try to post some when I get home today.

Last note, to the guy standing where the players sign autographs with a cooler full of mini-helmets begging for every player's signature, get the hell out of the way and let the kids get in there.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
