Your Top 10 Panthers of all-time

Recommended Posts

Who are your favorite players past and present? Not necessarily the best players we've had, but the ones that will always hold a place in your heart.

Sam Mills - goes without saying, continues to inspire Panther nation

Steve smith - best player we've ever had.

Cam newton - almost single handedly turned the entire franchise around

Moose - wreaked havok along with Smitty for years on opposing Ds, "Mooooose"

Delhomme - I was never his biggest fan but you can't deny his improbable rise in the 2003 season

Peppers - Pepdog was a monster for us for so many years, hate the way his tenure ended

Beason - unquestioned leader of the defense

Walls - this guy was just a beast TE and you could not not like him

Dwill - gave the Panthers our first top 5 running back

Minter - loved the way he played, Mike "after dinner" Minter

Honorable mention:

Ricky Manning Jr - the one-handed INT against the Rams set up X-clown and he was awesome in Philly that postseason rocking the Panther blue mask in the cold

Ricky Proehl - one of my favorite FA pickups in Panther history, great pro and taught Smitty a lot

Deshaun Foster - MEAN stiffarm, one of my favorite plays ever was the bitchslap he put on the entire city of Philadelphia with that 8 yard TD run

01. Sam Mills - To this day personifies what Panther football is all about.

02. John Kasay - Just a kicker? Please.

03. Steve Smith - Might be the best on-field performer in franchise history... for now.

04. Jake Delhomme - Personified the Fox era with his gritty QB play.

05. Muhsin Muhammad - Best WR in franchise history before Smitty came along.

06. Mike Minter - One of our defensive leaders through multiple regimes.

07. Julius Peppers - I only put him this low due to how badly things ended.

08. Wesley Walls - It's a toss-up between him and Mike Rucker. Hard to say which deserves this spot more.

09. Brad Hoover - Another guy who personified the Fox era.

10. Cam Newton - I put him here for reviving the franchise, even though he's only had one year.

1) Steve Smith: Unquestionable. Best player and best play in Panthers history

2) Jake Delhomme: Great leader & clutch in so many games before he lost it. Had the Panthers in position to pull off what would have been one of the greatest SB upsets of all-time

3) Julius Peppers: Best athlete in the Panthers history. Hate the way he left, but odds-on favorite to be the 1st player in the HoF who spent most of his career here.

4) Mushin Muhammed: Underrated everywhere except here. One of the better receivers of the decade from 1998-2008. Will always wonder what-if he had never had his 3 year hiatus in Chicago and him and Smitty could have torn it up together for longer. His 85 yard TD in the Super Bowl still gives me chills to watch.

5) Jordan Gross: One of the better offensive lineman over the past decade, has been a mainstay for the Panthers at both LT and RT. Great leader, really hope him and Smitty get another shot at the SB before they're done.

6) Chris Gamble: Also sometimes easy to overlook, but he has been solid for almost all of his career. It's a shame he's never been to a Pro Bowl despite some really worthy campaigns.

7) Sam Mills: So much has already been said but a great leader and player on some of the earlier teams. Would be higher on my list had he played longer here.

8) Jon Beason: Also a great leader and one of the best LB's in the league before his injury. Hoping he will be able to move higher in years to come.

9) Wesley Walls: Would have been more widely known nationally had he played in the fantasy football era. His TD celebration is still one of my all-time favorites.

10) Deangelo Williams: His highlight reel matches up well with any RB over the past 5 years. Will never get the recoginition due him b/c of splitting carries, but a career average of over 5 yd/carry and has made some of the best highlight plays in Panther history outside of Smitty

Honerable mention: John Kasey, Kris Jenkins, Jonathon Stewart, Eric Davis, Mike Minter, Mike Rucker, Dan Morgan, Stephen Davis
