Spartanburg is located in the “upstate” portion of South Carolina, south of the Appalachian Mountains. Although a hot and humid climate, Spartanburg’s 807 foot elevation helps it escape the oppressively high heat and humidity along the coastal plains region of South Carolina.

Twenty-five percent of the time, the wind is northerly off the Appalachians providing a token of relief. However, Spartanburg’s elevation does not save it from high temperature extremes as the upper 90s occasionally visit this portion of the south. Moreover, low temperatures are often in the lower 70s throughout camp making morning practices no picnic.

The probability of precipitation on any given day during camp is a shade below 50 percent..

July/August average high: 89.5 degrees / 87.5 degrees

July/August % of hours above 85 degrees: 26% / 21%

July/August average dew point: 69 degrees / 67 degrees

July/August % of hours with overcast sky: 14% / 17%
