Prisco has us at 5-11

Oh hell no. I thought we would be in 38-34 type games all year. I figured the defense would be losing us games, not vice versa.

This trend has been going on since 2009. The Panthers can't get all 3 phases going at the same time. That's the frustrating part.

the thing i was hoping, like a homer, is that this regime would correct that trend.

oh well.

back to the drawing board.

not really interested in seeing if rivera can do better with his third year and finally get the offense and defense clicking. i've seen enough.

btw...i don't think that you're alone in that. i think most pessimists realists were expecting the same thing. i'd be surprised if any of them were right about why the team sucked so bad.

i feel safe in saying we were all wrong about this team this year and i doubt anyone really expected it would suck to this magnitude. you're either right or wrong. there is no grey.

I think the point, rayzor, is that homers like you are wrong a lot. You don't know everything, and anyone who doubts the Panthers ability is not a blind fuzzy rodent or someone who has gone full retard. He felt the Panthers weren't much better than a SIX win team last season and he will be right. You scoffed at that notion, probably thoguht we'd win 11 games, and you were dead wrong.

for the record i've never seen you post anything that even rivaled the insight of the homers you allegedly despise.

I thought every game this year for us was gonna be like the Saints game. Lots of points on both sides with us losing more than we won. The o-line has really been the main difference. Cams accuracy has been a little worse but he just doesn't appear comfortable.

If there was any point in bumping this it was that people are very irrational about sports. If you said the Panthers would be bad and the Falcons good you were called stupid. People had tricked themselves into believing that the Falcons were a bad team somehow just because it's what they wanted to believe.

i felt confident that the issue from last year, the defense, would get straight.

where i went wrong was in not expecting the offense to drop off the face of the planet with pretty much the same cast of characters as last year.

honest question for the "realists" in here. did they see the defense rising up and the offense being the problem? is it working out how you thought? not trying to start anything. just wondering.

I'm not a Carolina fan but I'm from nc and follow the team somewhat. I didn't think the defense would be playing where they are now but I thought the offense would struggle. The disinterest in picking up a viable wide receiver threat opposite of Smith was inevitably going to hurt this team.

Also basing the offense around the running ability of a qb and a multi pronged backfield is a mixture of gimmicky and one dimensional. It's not something that can work long term in the NFL.

A one dimensional offense will never equal a good offense. You have to be decent in passing and running. Olsen is a good weapon, smith has some gas left in the tank. But Lafell, Murphy, and the rest of the wideouts? They are here and there guys. Might make one or two plays but can't consistently beat defenses. Cam has great arm strength but only decent to serviceable accuracy. Now he can improve in that area but with the offense you guys run, he's not going to.

These athletic QBs now a days are different then the guys coming out in the early 2000's (Vick, young, etc). These guys can throw the ball with some success. But they need to be groomed in that aspect. They need a coach that will teach them how to play a pro style game while supplementing that with the more gimmicky college plays to get them more comfortable.

Instead, what you have going on in Carolina and even Washngton is Coaches trying to run a college style offense in the pros. It won't work. So as long as your franchise refuses to add talent on the outside and as long as the coaches refuse to run an offense at least based on a more pro scheme, carolinas offense will continue to be sub par.

i think it's the playcalling.

it's been too predictable and waaaaayyyy to easy to defend.

we're either running a couple plays from the read option playbook over and over or we're trying for those big 20+ yard gains that take 5 seconds to develop. no Oline is going to be able to help hold off defenders for that long and no QB is going to look good. and then on those plays that aren't moronic and that actually make sense our players are making stupid mistakes at the wrong time.

it all stems from the playcalling, tho. it starts a snowball every game that just makes everything else go wrong.

The first scoring drive against Denver is how the plays should be called. They seem to have success and then go away from what got them

points.

Bahhhhh!!!! I'm so fuging pissed about this season!!!!!

Whatever dude. Screw your opinion then.

Haha my bad man. I actually started watching football the year Carolina became a franchise. Took a trip that summer to orlando studios, parents bought me a buccaneers hat and I just stuck with them.

But hey, a little inter divisional hate is to be expected and appreciated.

At least you stuck with the team that happened to have a logo on your hat and not the team of your home state....makes sense to me.
