Jeff Otah traded to the Jets

I mean, Rivera is basically giving Otah away for a song just to get him out of Charlotte. That speaks volumes as to the kind of guy he was.

This^^^

There has to be much more to this story than any of us know. They gave him away for practically nothing. More than being injury prone or lack of motivation here.

Like others have said... this move was about much more than just getting some value back for Otah. Rivera's comments all along have suggested there are problems with Otah that go beyond his injury.

Keeping a guy like Otah around sends the wrong message to the rest of the team, glad we moved him.

So we should assume that every undrafted free agent sucks because they weren't drafted and by the same logic, then every guy who was drafted high is therefore good right? Teams never miss on a guy and fail to draft him, right. And they always pick well, right??

Is that really the logic you want to stand behind??

No you shouldnt assume they all suck.

But when you pick one up and he sucks....you shouldn't assume he wont suck going forward.

Yeah because no rookie linemen has every improved his second year or beyond, right?? Since he struggled as a rookie he will always suck, right??

Seriously????

Off the top of my head how about Jason Peters who is a 4 time All pro who was a UDFA for Buffalo, was cut and resigned and didn't become a starter until 2005.

How about Nate Newton who was drafted by the Redskins as a OG in 1983, was cut and spent 2 years in the USFL, joined the Cowboys when the USFL folded and was a 6 time pro-bowler.

He may improve....got no issue with him being a developmental guy.

But people claiming he was above average last year and that we got no RT worries....that is silly homer logic. Not realistic.

Given the circumstances he was in, he did fine. He wasn't great for sure but few rookies are even those drafted high under the most ideal situations. There is no reason to believe that he won't improve this year and Rivera has been complementary of him which says something. And as far as a developmental guy, he is the starter until someone unseats him.

what the hell guys? I leave the internets for about 18 hours and this poo happens!!!!

Anyways, Otah was probably going to get cut or not re-signed, to be completely honest, getting something, anything for him was a plus. I'd like for the conditional pick to be a 4th or 3rd but it doesn't sound like that is the case.

Byron Bell played decent last year, hopefully he can step up, however with Gross getting older I foresee us taking a LT in the first or second in the draft next year, maybe develop that kid at RT then switch him and Gross down the road.

To everyone saying Otah was a bust/bad pick: Blame Denver, they took Ryan Clady right before. Seriously though Otah was a road paver when on the field, the problem was getting him on the field.

I missed a lot of this coverage, what did Rivera say about him?

Given the circumstances....hell, you could line up this year and suck and claim given the circumstances you did well.

RT is going to be an issue until they find someone who can play this year.

So they were guys who had to develop for years....not thrown into starting roles to get franchise QBs hurt when they couldn't cut it early on?????? ? ?

Give it up P55. He is like the Borg of stupidity, resistance is futile.
