Jeff Otah traded to the Jets

There is a reason he was laying carpet and went undrafted....and there were reasons why he was bad last year.

If finding OL was as easy as just picking up undrafted guys then things would be easy.

What besides the fact he wears a panther uniform suggest he should start for an NFL team week 1 this year.....

The fact he did improve at the end of the year and the fact he has time to learn the system this year. I don't see him as a long term solution but I do believe he can be serviceable. Otah on the other hand had run his course in Carolina and more than likely the NFL.

So we should assume that every undrafted free agent sucks because they weren't drafted and by the same logic, then every guy who was drafted high is therefore good right? Teams never miss on a guy and fail to draft him, right. And they always pick well, right??

Is that really the logic you want to stand behind??

Three quarters of this board wasn't willing to draft a decent offensive tackle with the 9th pick. So there is still a question mark along with starting a rookie from some back water school and counting on him (and Bell) to protect the most important player in Carolina Panthers history. Yeah but i'm the dumb one.

the point is that you make pussy-ass predictions that tons of people were making anyway and then beat your chest when they come true. oh wow so you've got big enough balls to predict that a rookie left guard won't be an instant impact player? the nerve!

hey i bet the redskins won't win the super bowl this season. i know i'm going out on a limb here and that's a craaaaaaazy prediciton but that's what you get from me because i'm so edgy derp derp.

There were only a few OTs worth taking in this years draft and all of them were gone by the time we picked.

"cut otah!!! He's a BUM!"

turns into "we traded otah? we better have gotten a good pick for him cause he's a first round pick blurb blurb blurb."

silliness.

Dude it's real simple. Hurney should have just fired up Madden and gone to the "trade player" screen. You offer up Otah for a seventh, and if that works, you exit the trade and add another pick.

We could have gotten more for him, but Hurney was too stupid or lazy to press the circle button a couple extra times. That is terrible GM-ing.

cheap, talented depth that could develop into something who was mishandled by a poor organization.

oh but insane genius grits is predicting that he won't be a good player!

Bet you said the same for Balmer too i'll bet? And how wonderful Edwards would be...

But please continue your high winded responses and i'll keep doing what i do best.

What most of the folks on this board believed then and still do is that we had bigger needs than an offensive tackle. When your offense is top 10 and your defense is in the bottom five, you go defense often in the draft.

Speaking of teams that had shaky offensive lines and did little to upgrade in free agency or the draft, here is what was posted about Washington this week:
