1st Wedding Anniversary Vacation Ideas

My wedding anniversary is approaching fast. Sept 3rd. I am looking for something close by that will be a fun place to take the wife. Dont have a lot of money to blow this year, so i am on a little bit of a budget. I have heard the mountains in NC are really nice. I havent been up there in a while. Anyone have any info or ideas of a good place to stay that will not cost an arm and a leg. Just looking for a weekend getaway really. Also if you have any other ideas about where we could go, could really use the help.

thanks!

I would look on LivingSocial or Groupon for trip deals.

I'd definitely postpone until leaf season, it's incredible up here during that time. The roads are a nightmare, but that's just because people are awestruck by the beauty. I live in Cashiers and there are plenty of B&Bs, a couple small motels and even a Hampton Inn nearby, so regardless of your lodging preferences you should be able to find something that fits. Lots of shopping if you're into that sort of thing, mainly though, if you like to hike there's a lot to be seen.

Just find a hotel in Asheville area. It's not blazing hot up there. Do Biltmore. Biltmore winery. Buy a massage for her at Grove Park or at the Biltmore spa. Good eats around there. If you want cheaper...lots of hiking up there and other cool stuff. Too hot/too crowded for beach for me right now.
