WR Louis Murphy Traded to Panthers!

Here's a quote from a die hard/sensible Raider fan from another forum I belong to.

Murphy really didn't get a lot of chance to shine, but he's still good (and very fast). Panthers are slowly getting much, much better by adding little pieces like this. I'm sad to see him go, but as Billy said our WR position is slowly getting stacked with the same kind of big potential WR's that haven't quite proven it. It was probably in the teams best interest to get rid of one so we could let the others have a chance to shine. Especially after Juron Criner came into camp and put on a circus last month.

This is also Reggie McKenzie's 2nd trade with the Panthers after trading Bruce Campbell for Goodson. I guess the managements like eachother.

I hope its not much...this is shocking to be honest. I guess Gettis wasn't coming along well?

Yeah this has to be a sign that either:

1. Gettis is not coming along as well as they hoped

2. Pilares sucks

3. Adams is struggling

I thought that they might be in the market for another WR since they checked into Jacoby Jones. would have rather had him, but maybe the price was too high?

Also,

I'm an avid fantasy FB player and know just a little bit about this guy due to performance. Was he the guy who had those big games from Campbell throwing him the ball? can't remember exactly.

While this guy is nice to add to the roster. Panthers really need to look into drafting a top WR next year in the draft to start grooming to replace smith in the next few years. Having a bunch of ok WRs on the team ain't going to help us win games. Cam needs some true weapons to throw to in the coming years. This is ok for the moment. But in the next few years. The panthers need to look at drafting a great WR in the first round of the draft.

Watching YouTube highlight clips (I know, I know) he seems to not play as fast as his 40. Looks pretty solid at high pointing jump balls. GREAT at downfield blocking. His yards after contact are on par with Jeff King though, almost always goes down on first contact.

Rotoworld says he was on the bubble in Oak, but they have some good WRs on that team. I like the pickup, pending what we gave up. His play is that of a possession WR, mainly to move the chains.

I like that we're trying to address our thin WR corp.

We traded a 5th, a lot of my Raider fans are kinda bummed we have him now but they say he will fit perfectly in our offense.

Speculation on WFNZ/Yahoo! Sports is that it was a straight up Gettis for Murphy. Wow. hope it's not true.

Considering the Raiders timeless speed first philosophy, Gettis fits into the Raiders scheme perfectly.

Whaaaaaaaaaat???

Yeah, definitely hope that isn't true. But, I honestly wouldn't be shocked. Gettis seems to have been in Rivera's doghouse since day one. If this really is true, it's a cannon ball across the bow for Jeff Otah too. He better be ready to work HARD.
