Heres his Profootball focus stats.

09 season, played 736 snaps(most of any receiver on team),92 Targets, 34 receptions,521 total yards, 136 yards after catch, 4 td's, 7 drops, caused 4 missed tackles and 0 fumbles.

10 played 737 snaps(2nd by about 40 snaps to Darius Heyward Bay),74 targets, 41 receptions, 609 total yards, 227 yards after catch,2 tds, 3 drops,caused 4 missed tackles and had 2 fumbles.

11 played 258 snaps (4th most at receiver) 34 targets, 15 receptions,241 total yards,87 yards after catch,0 td's, 2 drops, caused 2 missed tackles and 0 fumbles.

He was the number 1 receiver his rookie year as he was targeted twice as much as anyone else and was most productive as he led all receivers in yards and td's.

His sophmore year was more of the same, depsite getting slightly less snaps than Heyward Bay..still got more targets, receptions and yards than any other wideout on the team and unbelievably his 2 td's tied for first.

and looks like he missed the first 5 weeks of last year.

*all this being said the #1 pass catcher on the team in 09 and 10 was Zach Miller the tight end. Murphy was just the best wideout on the Raiders for those 2 years.

**Jamarcus and Gradkowski were the qb's in 09 and then Jason Campbell and Gradkowski in 2010 for the raiders.

6th rounder max, hopefully 7th. A 5th would be too much, but it seems he's going to make another nice ST guy and can come in to block when we want to run the ball.

I think Chud will also look to use him as a new toy. Teams will know he can block, so we can run some play action/trick play type things and send the kid flying down the field.

Why the fug wouldn't we trade for a decent CB or DT? Damn, what the fug is with this team and offense. Offense wasn't a problem last year, defense was

Because maybe it isn't as easy as saying, "Hey NFL, we have a need for corner and defensive tackles. Any solid players you want to trade us for a 5th?!"

I'm worried about our defense as well, but Carolina has brought in Kuechly, Smith, Nakamura, Norman, and will get a healthy Beast, Edwards, and Hogan. 3 of those players will start. 4 of those players will compete for starting jobs in the secondary. It isn't like we're just sitting on our butts.

When you have a strength this strong you don't take your foot off the gas. Feed the monster, that's what the greats do. People here worry far too much about the defense.

My guess is that it was just an open opportunity. Oakland realized Murphy was probably getting cut, but had some trade value. They had worked previously with Hurney on the Goodson trade. So they probably reached out. Hurney and Rivera have a conference, probably call up Cam and ask him about Murphy from his Florida days, and they make a move.

I don't think the team was actively looking for a WR trade, but we've been opportunistic in the past e.g. Tolbert wanting to come here and us making room for him.

I would be happy with a conditional 6th that moves to a 5th based on some performance measures, but we'll see what we gave up.

I wouldnt sleep on him though. The big thing on him seems to be his temper and his drops. 1, he's going to be learning from a guy he had/has one of the largest tempers in the game and 2, Panthers receivers can catch. Anyone receiver that spends time with Graves seems to have greatly improved catching from when they came in.

Drops just never have been a problem here in the recent years with the exception of Legadont Notagain (who got better). Sure guys like Carter and Colbert kind of stamped the dropsy label on the Panthers #2 but 11 and 12 arent going to have that problem. LaFell had a number of huuuuge catches last year and we all have our fingers crossed for Gettis.

Is there anything to suggest he's a good special teams guy. This article claims he has less value than Moore and Ford on their roster because he does not contribute on special teams as a returner like the other two. It does not get into whether or not he contributes in other ways.
