Not being smart...

But why couldn't that happen in England? They figured out how to spot crazy?

They have more stringent gun laws over there. They are 1/6th our size but the gun homicide rates are 9,000 per US to 60 in the UK. The non gun homicide rates are almost identical so people still kill at the same rate when guns aren't involved.

Less occurrences....but you can't stop evil with gun laws.

No u can't but u can make it more difficult.

Gun control should be a top priority in this country. It never will be though so sadly these types of things will just be something we have to deal with.

One thing I've noticed is these sort of things happen in groups. I'd be willing to bet that some sicko tries to copycat this.

Well, I am fine w/ stricter gun laws...but I don't think it will impact these over the top "shows" sickos plan. Those are also the ones the country gets caught up in.

Many of these sickos would have no problem obtaining the same weapons w/ stricter gun laws. Most of the people who wake up and go on killing sprees aren't your standard criminals w/ a rap sheet.

Yep...that accounted for 1/4-1/3 of the gun homicides in the UK that year.

So you admit that you were wrong when you said that this type of incident wouldn't happen in the UK? :)

Gun control law discussions come up every time an incident such as this occurs. But imo, stricter gun control laws will not prevent incidents like this. When someone is psycho, but with enough intelligence and a thin veneer of rationality, they can get what they need to do what they need. Gun control laws may make it more difficult, but if a psycho is determined, he or she will find a way to act. This guy could easily have made a bunch of molotov cocktails and killed even more people.

Stricter gun control laws would have more of an impact on heat of the moment killings, and perhaps on things liked armed robbery, but not so much on crazy ass psychos.

Cops should have just taken the dude out on the spot.

I read earlier this week that they shot some random guy because they busted in the wrong house and a guy had a remote or something and they killed an innocent person because they thought he had a gun?

Wtf cops

    • Personally, I am not sold on Bryce yet--and I do not think anyone is saying they are, but I don't think Ward is on table when we draft anyway.  Not even sure if I would rather have him than one of the later QBs.  I see a lot of potential in Allar, Nussmeire, Rourke, and even Hamilton from Ohio State--Milroe is intriguing, but I am not sure he is an NFL QB.  Ewers is that sleeper who falls and becomes a solid starter. I think that we sign a veteran who has played and we draft one of these project QBs. To your point:  With that in mind, I think you have to take QB off the table in round 1, and if Bryce can string 4-5 games like KC together, we still need to draft a QB in round three or so---I really think Rourke is a great fit for this offense--he is accurate and gets the ball out quickly---he impressed me vs OSU.   Reason?  I think we may have a tough decision to make about Bryce in 2 years--will he be worth $60m?  That decision is a lot easier if you have been grooming a backup for 2 years who can play. In round 1: I am hoping for PSU's edge Abdul Carter In round 2:  I would like to see us grab a DT who can rush the passer.  Walter Nolen of Ole Miss is versatile and a bit raw. I think he could be an excellent complement to Brown. In round 3:  I would love ILB Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma.  He is a beast. With 11 picks, I would package our 4th rounders to move up into the third round and take a QB.  At the moment, I think Rourke is trending upward and he has the skills Canales seems to want in a QB.  Quick processor, quick release. I would use the fifth rounders on OL.  I know that I left out WR--however, we are getting Thielen back, XL will be improved, Coker will be improved, and Moore has been surprisingly good.  Sanders (TE) has been more than expected in the passing game.  I think we need D more than WR, and maybe we can get a veteran WR to sign or find a hidden gem late.
    • Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.
    • I think we look at both.  I wouldn't mind resigning Dalton for a deal.  He would know the offense and there is no pressure to see what we have in him. Then I wouldn't mind finding a low round rookie with potential.
