The Dark Knight Rises SPOILER ALERT THREAD (with a preface that contains no spoilers)

Watched Rises last night and loved it. Can't wait until its out on Bluray and I can nerd out and watch all three in a row on a Saturday night.

One thing I didn't understand and maybe someone can help is why didn't anyone ever just climb the rope to get out of the pit? It looked as though it was safely secured all the way at the top?

Multiple things I've read said the rope didn't reach the top. It was secured to the first ledge he gets to before the 'leap of faith'.

that is without a doubt, your personal opinion

How will these not stand the test of time? They are made by one of the greatest directors of our time. You're way too caught up on the buzzword of Batman. These stories and the messages, although not entirely original content have been presented in a way never before seen. Nolan has made a fundamental landmark in the comic book world. Everything must evolve or die, and Nolan's evolution is a masterpiece.

Also you're in denial or playing the Skip Bayless role if you think the quality of these movies was poor.

I've never once even implied that the quality of these movies were poor. I am just saying that the reason I think these movies won't have a lasting impact has nothing to do with my opinion of the quality of the movies. I think the movies are very good, but I absolutely do not think Nolan's films comprise the best trilogy of all time because of what I have stated previously.

I am absolutely not trying to be the "zomfg these movies suckz!1!" kind of guy. I saw all of these movies the day they were released and I am a fan. I own the first two on Blu Ray and will purchase this one on Blu Ray as well. I found some problems in TDKR that annoyed me and I thought it was the weakest of the 3. That being said, I still enjoyed it.

The best thing I can say about it is that there wasn't a moment where it felt like an almost 3 hour movie. During The Dark Knight there were a few points where I was like "Oh god there's more? I thought it was ending. Why isn't it ending?" But with this one I was invested until the last frames.

That's what I thought but when he leaped it was still above him. And when he climbed out it showed a big pile of rope at the top, and it looked like it was connected to something.

Seriously, have you guys revisited Star Wars lately? Yes it has rich lore, but that's mostly external to the films. As movies, they flat out suck. They don't hold up at all. The first one in particular is nauseatingly boring.

My biggest problem with the movie was I had to hold back laughter every time Bane talked because his voice sounded like Deckard Cain from the Diablo series. All I could picture when I heard it was Bane saying "stay awhile and listen". Great movie otherwise....

In the scene after Bruce and Talia banged, in front of the fireplace, Bruce was caressing her back and a scar on Talia's back was highlighted for a second or two. It looked like a cresent or a boomerang (lol). Anyone help me with the significance of that scar?

I loved the ending teaser with John Blake being revealed to be "Robin" and inheriting the Batcave too. I don't really see how it's possible for him to be the new Batman though since it seemed like Gotham City was unified around the perceived death of Batman since they erected a statue in his honor. I don't think people would take very well to Batman running around again after they thought he sacrificed himself for them.

I agree but do think its now open in the future if Nolan ever wants to return to the universe to not create another Batman but a pseudo Nightwing where Blake is like an edgy cop who doesn't go full bat-suit. I personally think this was a perfect ending. His character was an ode to the spirit of Robin. So he basically was Robin in a way, but a cop instead.

If Batman ever returns to the big screen, it should be way down the road and a reboot with a completely different take.

It is supposed to be the symbol of the League of Shadows. It is the same symbol Bruce is about to get branded with in Batman Begins, when he burns down the Ras Al Gul's house.
