The decision to rescind their qualifying offer to Derrick Brown saves about $3 million under the cap. He was expendable after the draft.

Charlotte Bobcats President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins announced today that the team has withdrawn its qualifying offer to Derrick Brown. Brown now becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Selected by the Bobcats with the 40th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, Brown averaged career highs of 8.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 22.2 minutes in 65 games played last season. In 171 games over three NBA seasons with the Bobcats and Knicks, he has career averages of 5.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 14.9 minutes played.

It looks like Jeff Taylor will have a fairly big role on this team with him instantly becoming the lone back-up small forward.

However, the Bobcats could elect to use Henderson and Williams as small forwards as well when MKG needs rest.

Do not over pay for Carl Landry..it just will make Bobcats average again. Keep the cap free bc they arent winning this season either. Save it and then pounce on a quality big Fish FA.

As for Cory Higgins...geesh..

Agree. I think we can live without a PF like Landry. Will only make us mediocre and loose out on the no.1 pick only.
