So who here thinks we should have let Deangelo walk?

Thats basically what it all boils down to. I say no.

We should have low balled him, let him get an offer from another team and paid slightly more. No one else would have paid him 43m. If someone was willing to pay that much then you let him walk and boom, there is Johnathan Stewart.

I would have given him a decent offer. One conducive to a back that's on the downside of his career, ended up on IR two years in a row, and that splits carries....not Ray Rice money

I think they wanted to Ben Roethlisberger-ize Cam and have him hand off a ton his rookie year to help with the adjustment. Cam just happened to be light years ahead of where everyone thought he would be and the offense didn't have to rely on the run as much.

I understand why they overpaid to keep Deangelo. Because they were afraid of going into a season with one proven runningback and ruining their rookie QB by putting to much on him. I'm fine with the decision.

You can bring this topic up as many times as you want but the outcome will never change.

You're worrying about money that's not even yours (don't give me that crap about how you pay for tickets).

Secondly, if Williams or Stewart goes down we need a viable backup running back, yes we severely overpaid for a backup but it's better to be safe than sorry.

A lot of teams would love to have the running system that the Carolina Panthers have in place.

Nobody is worried about the actual money. It's about managing a roster in a salary cap situation and how you distribut that money.
