And we could have even more to use.....

9 mill isn't going to close to allowing us to address all the holes. RB isn't an important position in today's NFL.....Charles Johnson going down screws us being ago weak..... So does Gamble.....so does Smith

That is plain stupid logic. If we have 9 million and don't use it then we had more than enough to fill the holes because we weren't going to use it no matter how much we had. And we weren't going to fill the holes or we already think we have. No matter who goes down, the guys we have left won't cost us 9 million since you only pay them typically for the number of weeks left in the season since we won't be buying people long term when we are looking for stop gap production for less than 1 year.

You can't have hindsight until after the fact. If Stewart got hurt week 1 and Williams rushed for 1300 yards this year, then this whole overpaid issue disappears. Will it happen?? Who knows.......................

RB still isn't as important of a position vs others....and that isn't hindsight. We happen to be weak everywhere on D except LB.

big picture, hindsight, upside, doesn't matter.....the more ways you look at it....it just wasnt a great move.

Carlos Rodgers.

That wasn't realistic because we were not going to spend big bucks on a free agent cornerback. Anyone can pull a name out of the hat but that doesn't mean they were a realistic target for us or that lack of money stopped us from paying them. You could have said Asante Samuels as well but the same logic applies. We were not going to do it no matter how much we have.

Hurney has consistently said we were not going to pay big bucks for any free agent and he has stuck to that for years. So it wasn't realistic for us given our philosophy over the past 3 or 4 years.

They are LEASING seats. Dont pay the lease and someone elses ass will be sitting there.

Maybe it was misworded to say they own seats but the Panthers have advertised "ownership" for years.

Be there for all of the action and excitement of Carolina Panthers football at Bank of America Stadium with a Permanent Seat License (PSL) and Season Tickets. A PSL, which gives you exclusive rights to buy season tickets every year, guarantees your place in Bank of America Stadium for a lifetime of NFL Football. PSL's help pay the construction debt and ongoing maintenance costs for Bank of America Stadium, one of only three privately financed stadiums in the NFL. A Carolina Panthers PSL gives you ownership in America's most popular sport - NFL football.

Jerry obviously feels that way to as he's always talking, emailing, and calling PSL owners. I know many people that have corresponded with Jerry about the direction of the team.

That is simply your opinion which isn't shared by the GM or the coach. We have money to sign anyone we want at this point yet we aren't. Somehow I trust their opinion more than yours.

We don't just have a singular hole where it makes sense to blow 9 mill on one guy just bc....

We have lots of weak areas and holes.

DeAngelo was the first step into a big mistake. You think I am bad now....wait until they pay Stewart a comparable deal and we keep both.

You don't help Newton win championships by paying RBs to run....you help him win by giving him a great D. Cam's got the offense...he is about to become a video game. All he needs is some studs to throw to. Need to be more worried about finding a new #1....dont need to start looking when 89 cant be it

our descent into the basement is reaffirmed by CRA. We are doomed to suckage for ever. I call 5-11 this year then 1-15 when stewart leaves and we field a middle school team. Go..er I mean panthers suck because of dwill.

BTW which way to the mass suicide?

you.....I like you....you don't post enough

As I said, not about one specific player.....depth has been non existent.

maybe we would have brought in the Ron Edwards of CBs of Ss or another DT. Being better there would have helped the team.....offense wasnt an issue. D is.

But yeah J. Joseph would have made us a better team than Williams. Offense was fine. Captain wasnt.

Not about how great Williams is....about what we have and what we don't.

The 9 million we have could still afford us 3 average depth players at those positions. I agree we need more help and Joseph or Carlos Rogers would have been nice and helped our secondary a ton. Its highly debatable that they would have signed with us coming of the 2-14 season and i'm sure we would have had to at the very least outbid the teams they signed with and their price would have eclipsed deangelos at that point.

Jonathan Joseph or Carlos Rogers,

I badly wanted us to sign Carlos last year. He was cheap and had been productive at a position of need for us. That said, DWill's contract isn't what stopped us from signing him, any more than CJ's or Beason's or Anderson's. Hurney didn't sign him because he didn't want him, or else he tried and Carlos chose to go elsewhere.

That has no relation to DWill.

The entire point of this exercise is to give a name you would rather pay than DWill. I did, I don't see the problem. The Panthers were very interested in Carlos Rodgers last year they just didn't have the money.

As for the $8m in cap space that will either be used to extend contracts or carry over into next season where we are already over the cap.

Where do you get your ideas???

We have good depth given how many guys we used in starting roles due to the injuries we sustained last year.

And not only do we help Cam with a running game but we bring in Tolbert to help even more. Your logic seems to go against everything we have done in the last 18 months. As a team we are doing the exact opposite of everything you advocate short of bringing in Kuechly.
