OMG I got a dog...

dog whisperer deals with aggressive or problem dogs. not basic canine training.

as far as whether he knows what he's doing or not....sure. his thing works. if you can retrain the owners.

usually the problem with pets is really the problem with the handler

during really hot stretches like this, i'll mix some unflavored nonfat yogurt with melted peanut butter about 50/50, then pour it into an ice cube tray and stick pieces of banana in it and freeze it, or freeze slices of apples for them.

So of course I haven't been on vacation in 3 years and you know I go and get a dog 3 days before I leave...I cannot take her w/me to the beach :( but my friend can take her til Sunday and she has a big huge piece of land. My girl has only been w/me for 3 days now..will she forget me by Sunday?!?!?!?!? :(

1. Invisible Fence. Had it in 3 houses and 3 dogs- swear by it. Not the do-it-yourself but the real Invisible Fence. Had my now 19-month old mix trained in a couple weeks when he was less than 4 months old.

2. Make my own dog food. Buy ground chicken and ground turkey, add brown rice and carrots. And they get Pedigree dry food.

3. Check your local Pet Smart or other pet store that carries Wisdom Panel Insights DNA test kits. Saliva swab in the mail with email results in about 3 weeks. Our Chief's grandparents were Siberian Husky and Rottweiler on one side, St. Bernard and Dobie on the other.

He's 19 months, weighs 85 lbs, black and tan like a skinnier Rottie, one blue eye (from the Husky) wth some white on his chest and loves to swim, chase deer and geese. He gets to run 9 holes on the golf course every morning. Totally boundary trained with a basement dog door he can go in and out whenever he likes. The neighbors love him because, as they say, "When Chief barks we know something is up and we pay attention."

And he's an SPCA adoptee, and I sit on the Board of our county SPCA.

Ok...I am totally smitten with this dog...she's fuging awesome.

I've trained her to loose leash walk with me..no more pulling..except when she sees animals and stuff..but we're working on that. She's great with everyone she's met..she's great with other dogs. I think she knows that our house is her house..when the doorbell rings, she barks one time. She didn't do that at first. ..and she'll only sleep on my husbands side of the bed on the floor closest to the door. We took her crate back to Petsmart...she doesn't need it

Tomorrow we're going to the lake...she's gonna get a life jacket...and we're gonna frolic in the water

is it a german shepherd thing to "bounce" when she's excited and starts to run around the backyard?? It's like she's mixed with a flippin' deer :)

So, dogs rule then. Yep.

:)

She's an awesome dog...do all dogs just follow you around EVERYWHERE around the house?? :)

Anyone been to the Dog Bar in NODA??

yes, dogs are social creatures. She LUBS you!! My dog follows me around the house too.

My brother took his dog to the Dog Bar once, he said it was pretty cool. The patio at VBGBs is dog friendly too.
