So the government says its bad.....

What about all the other waste that is exremented in the wild? Is that gonna cause global warming? My yard is full of land mines.

Well keep it in your yard and maybe you won't ever have to meet a pissed off Marine infantry veteran. You can choose to believe or not believe, I really don't care. People who refuse to pick up after their dogs are selfish pieces of trash.

things to know about gsds:

GSDs live an average of 10 to 14 years

They love to learn and to have a purpose

GSDs require early intensive and extensive socialization and obedience training

The breed is very fond of children once a relationship is established. In fact, some say he’s a cross between a babysitter and a cop

GSDs are sometimes lovingly referred to as “German Shedders”

Without regular exercise, your German Shepherd Dog may become overactive and difficult to live with because of the pent-up energy that develops from confinement (playing fetch or tug is a good way to reinforce behavior that has already been trained by requiring the dog to work for the play. sit, down, speak, drop it are all good commands to work on while playing)

You will have to be an Alpha with a GSD. Females may not require it as much as males, but I have to almost behave like a drill sergeant with mine, otherwise he's gonna do what the fug he wants when he wants. And when they have focused in on something, its very difficult to break that focus.

Give her good, strong chew toys. I like the Jolly Pets line. Kongs are not bad either, just overpriced. A GSD has jaws like almost no other dog.

A bored GSD is a destructive GSD. A VERY destructive GSD. This why so many problems arise with their aggression. This is the last dog you want to leave to its own devices for any length of time or tie them out and neglect them. After they're about 2 years old, they can be trusted to be alone

Most importantly, and you may not have this issue, PROTECT YOUR GERMAN SHEPHERD FROM STUPID PEOPLE. Its stupid to tease any dog, but its downright dangerous to tease German Shepherds. Their prey drive is so much stronger than most people realize, and they really wouldn't differentiate between play and tease, especially when young.

The benefits of a German Shepherd—loyalty, protectiveness and eagerness, to name a few—come from careful obedience training and authority. Everyone in the household must be prepared to show “authority” and earn the dog’s respect with a firm but loving touch. They do not respond to negativity or anger. Once achieved, this respect may need to be earned again and again.

Hope that helps.

Wish my GSD were a female. He'd be a lot easier to handle. But there's also no telling what happened to him before I found him on the side of the road.

Her NOT being an alpha dog is why she is my dog. Very sweet...very submissive

the lady at the shelter said a few times that she would be a very good dog for first time dog owners

    • This is why it's probably going to be hard to trade down. This draft is fairly light on top tier talent but pretty deep in talent of that next tier down. I don't think there's going to be a lot of teams clamoring to move up and numerous teams might be entertaining moving down. Not a good market to trade down if that's the case.
    • And if they can't find a reasonable trade down (I think we would need a 2nd rounder this year bare minimum to make any trade down worth it). I would definitely expect Dan to trade UP for an EDGE or LB in the top half of R2. Just makes too much sense. We also have a plethora of mid round picks to use as ammo.
    • I don't mean to make this a mock draft thread particularly,  but every time I do a mock I have been investigating the talent that goes off the board between picks 8 and our low 2nd rounder pick 57. There is a gargantuan amount of talent still left on the board in the top half of the 2nd round every time I do one. Losing our original 2nd round pick to the Bears as the last pick of the Bryce trade stings badly .  I'm particularly looking at elite players like Carson Schwesinger (LB), Luther Burden (WR), Matthew Golden (WR), Maxwell Hairston (CB) , Nick Scourton , Landon Jackson, Donavan Ezeraku (all DEs/OLBs) . The sweet spot in this draft really feels like pick 15 to 40 - ish. This is why the Bears should be making bank with this draft. I don't know how realistic a trade down is from 8, but if we could pick up any teams higher 2nd rounder and still grab their 1st? We'd be cooking with gas man.  Say for example we get Tet McMillan at pick 8, if you wait all the way to 57 you stand the chance of not getting any impact pass rushers in this draft. And I don't think this team can afford that.  I'd personally love for them to take a break from drafting wrs in R1 or R2 (i think we've taken one in the top 2 rounds in the majority of the past few years), and stick to repairing the nfls worse defense in history (in terms of total points against iirc, or was it yards? Also included my most recent mock as an example . Don't put too much into the  late round selections lol
